When does care become control? What happens when the person onstage can no longer move freely?

Eye Alaska was an earlier band in Roy’s musical life. Its songs bring romance, public ambition, dancing, drowning and uncertain identity into the same room. Read beside Jagwar Twin, they offer more than early sightings of familiar symbols: they show those symbols doing different jobs. A dance floor can help someone refuse a returning lover. A protective promise can shelter someone without stopping the rain. A song can also promise a new identity to a person who returns. Those differences make the early catalogue useful. The later mythology gives some of these conflicts names and bodies, but the early work already contains care, agency and difficult choices. ## The releases > [!album] Yellow & Elephant · EP · 2008 > Six songs, from an awakening demand that becomes a plea for help to a familiar catching game whose release rule changes. > > **[[Eye Alaska/Yellow & Elephant|Explore the EP]]** · [Apple Music](https://music.apple.com/us/album/yellow-elephant/1443640450) · [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/album/7JrnxRFwykPKK6b487jHk0) > [!album] Genesis Underground · Album · 2009 > Thirteen tracks, moving among protection, failed return, public performance, bodily danger and the promise of another beginning. > > **[[Eye Alaska/Genesis Underground|Explore the album]]** · [Apple Music](https://music.apple.com/us/album/genesis-underground/1443738730) There are **nineteen release positions and eighteen distinct titles** across these editions: *Roll Right Over* appears on both. The comparison includes *The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway*, *Supper’s Ready*, *Duchess* and guiding voices. It keeps a useful comparison distinct from proven influence. ## Listen, then read These pages paraphrase and interpret the songs; they do not reproduce a full lyric collection. Open a public streaming release or track and its lyrics view where available. Availability can vary by service and region. *Star Pilot* remains a gap in this guide’s complete lyric coverage; *The Legion Night* is catalogued as a short instrumental segue, and its exact relationship to the Hall recording remains open. The early songs can be formative material without being a finished blueprint. Their ordinary stakes, a relationship, a stage, a wish to be heard, remain part of their meaning even when a later work returns to them. ## Public sources - [The 2009 album announcement](https://www.drivenfaroff.com/2009/05/19/eye-alaska-release-track-listing-album-art-summer-tour-dates/) records the original thirteen-track order and an attributed description of tracks functioning like pieces of a film score. - [The December 2009 interview](https://weworemasksisdead.com/2009/12/16/interview-eye-alaska-december-13-2009/) discusses musical variety, influences and pressure to choose one sound.
