# Poems, Texts & Social Posts
Not every Hall of Mirrors artifact is a diagram or an emblem. Some of them are just words.
These are the text pieces: poems, diary fragments, a full narrative myth, a couple of doodles with captions, and the handful of real social posts Roy cared about enough to mint into the maze. They are the closest the archive comes to hearing him think out loud, in his handwriting or his own timeline, before an idea grew up into a song.
## What this section collects
This page gathers artifacts that are made of language: a scanned journal page, a typed poem, an Apple Notes draft, a screenshotted tweet, a text-message bubble. The medium is the point. Where the concept images show the mythology drawing on the walls, these show it writing in the margins.
A few of them are self-labeling, meaning the artifact spells out its own unlock code in plain sight: the poem titled after its own first line, the tweet whose last line is the key. That is not sloppiness. It is a small joke the Hall likes to play, where the clue and the prize turn out to be the same object.
## A note on the codes
Several of these entries carry a code that looks like license-plate gibberish: `J403`, `X672`, `Q763`, `F876`. These are not unsolved mysteries or random strings. They are cell coordinates, column-plus-row addresses, on Roy's spreadsheet-style *"I'm 33"* board (see [[Hall of Mirrors/The I'm 33 Board]]), where the whole cosmology is laid out on a grid. So a code like `J763` is less a riddle and more a map reference: it tells you where on the board the idea lives. The phrase-codes (`WE FALL DOWN AS SEEDS ON THE GROUND`, `EVERY HUMAN BEING IS A STAR`) work the other way, quoting a lyric or an aphorism straight.
## How to read them
Read the words first, the mythology second. A diary line is a diary line before it is a prophecy. The most useful readings on this page start from what the text actually says and only then ask what it connects to, rather than treating every scrap of handwriting as a coded transmission from the beyond.
The links under each entry are deliberately few. A poem can gesture at a dozen ideas; the guide only points you to the connections that actually help you understand what you are reading.

### #15 · DEAD LETTER DIARIES · `DEAD LETTER DIARIES`
<video src="https://storage.googleapis.com/jagwar-twin-33.appspot.com/artifacts/0xdb2916dfb388353085a0551d381c2565d478197df1332c0e4aff59c7b7d901de..mp4" poster="https://storage.googleapis.com/jagwar-twin-33.appspot.com/artifacts/0xdb2916dfb388353085a0551d381c2565d478197df1332c0e4aff59c7b7d901de..jpg" width="320" controls preload="none"></video>
A short looping scan of an open CD case on weathered slatted wood, rotating in a black void: the white disc reads *"Dead Letter Diaries,"* and the insert is a small black-and-white photo of a young person outdoors, with lines of fine print beside it. This is a relic of Roy's very first band, Dead Letter Diaries, from his high-school years (roughly the mid-2000s, before Eye Alaska), and the code is just the artifact's own name, the object introducing itself. The fine print rewards patience: the track titles on the insert (*"Cold Steps in the Even Fall," "Through the Eyes of Ruin," "Wars and Rumors Of," "The Age of Ignorance," "Last Words of a Killer"* among them) match the band's published releases, and the disc reads as a compilation drawing on *Since the Realist* (2005) and the *Through the Eyes of Ruin* EP (2004). One title already sounds like the maze: *Wars and Rumors Of* cuts Matthew 24:6 short on purpose, a teenager already ending the line before the expected word. And the teenage catalogues turn out to be one of the Hall's real key-veins: another room's key is an Eye Alaska track title (#58), another's is the mirrored alias buried in the Eye Alaska tracklist (#17), and a third opens on the name of his 2011 solo EP (#60), so the boy on this insert is already supplying the adult maze its passwords. It sits in the gallery's ghost realm and earns the placement: a *"dead letter"* is mail that can never be delivered, so the band name can be read as framing a teenager's diaries as messages sent to no one, now preserved here as an undeliverable object. One small uncanny touch: the scan's texture is mirror-flipped, so every word reads backward as the disc turns, which is either an accident of the capture or the Hall being the Hall.

### #23 · ROY DIARY 2014 · `J403`
<a href="https://storage.googleapis.com/jagwar-twin-33.appspot.com/artifacts/0xd14909d1145a6a8baf6db46d9a5efee8677c90898ae1dabf470ba720bb340e1e..jpg"><img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/jagwar-twin-33.appspot.com/artifacts/0xd14909d1145a6a8baf6db46d9a5efee8677c90898ae1dabf470ba720bb340e1e..jpg" width="300"></a>
A dim bedside photo, casual as a late-night phone snap: an open journal beside a pen, a dripping beeswax candle in a blue dish, a hair tie, a glass globe lamp, and a small brass deity oil lamp (a little altar, in keeping with Roy's Eastern-spiritual leanings). The journal carries two handwritten lines: *"Does ANY one understand ME?"* and *"Standing on top the tower of ~~[scribbled out]~~"*, the destination struck through by his own hand (the line's smaller words are hard to fix at this resolution, and the crossed-out word is genuinely unreadable, so every candidate for it stays a guess). The scribble is worth a beat of its own, because it is a gesture Roy keeps making: the *ME* tattooed on his arm is crossed out rather than removed, and a botched line of ink he *"messed up"* is struck through and left legible. Negation left visible instead of erased. Whatever tower the younger Roy stood on, what survives is the question above it and the act of cancellation below. Dated 2014, this is Roy English in the struggling pre-Jagwar years, and its filing among the *"past selves"* frames it as a ghost of the younger, unheard version of him. The code `J403` is a cell coordinate on the *"I'm 33"* board, a map reference rather than a phrase.

### #51 · ROY STORY "SIR RABBIT · `Q763`
<a href="https://storage.googleapis.com/jagwar-twin-33.appspot.com/artifacts/0x2356561424a07a805749ee41a7ad1efe3b2cf7de7056cb2657eac17b04ab8d72..png"><img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/jagwar-twin-33.appspot.com/artifacts/0x2356561424a07a805749ee41a7ad1efe3b2cf7de7056cb2657eac17b04ab8d72..png" width="300"></a>
Four typed pages of the complete *"Sir Rabbit"* narrative poem, laid out around a photograph of a leaping verdigris-bronze hare; a stray selection handle and an X-ed design frame reveal this as a layout caught mid-edit rather than a finished print. The poem is Roy's fullest self-authored initiation myth: Sir Rabbit rides a Cat to the machine Violet Moon, is boxed in by the Fox, escapes by listening for *"a heartbeat he forgot"* (*"the key is hidden in yourself"*), meets the lamp-bearing Dove, is guided by a golden-caped Spider to the Great Divide, and finally leaps *"straight through the Mourning Sun"* back to where he began. Heart over mind, wake from the dream, the Circle's return, all named years before the later cast arrived. Roy's own phrase *"sir rabbit pre-lucius"* (2023) was a reply to a fan's photo of a rabbit mural, not a caption on this artifact, but it names the reading we bring to it: the seeker-self before the Lucius armor forms, quietly seeding the whole future ensemble (the Fox, the Spider-guide, the mind/heart split). The code `Q763` is another board cell coordinate, sitting in the same numbered grid as the other rabbit rooms. The image also settles two long-standing transcription questions: *"Mourning Sun"* and *"a little dot"* are both confirmed as written.

### #52 · ATTENTION TWEET · `X672`

A screenshot of a real @JagwarTwin tweet (1/29/21, the avatar already the dissolving-figure *33*-era artwork): *"Attention is like color, or love, or beauty. You don't create it. It's something you discover."* Posted more than a year before *33* arrived, this is Roy planting the album's central thesis in public, out loud, on his own timeline: Attention as a force that already exists in the world, found rather than manufactured, which *Pay Attention* then dramatizes by personifying it as an ancient, trans-historical power. Its placement in a monologue realm fits, since Attention speaks in the first person in the song. The code `X672` is a cell coordinate on the board, an internal address, not a phrase to decode.

### #64 · SEEDS ON THE GROUND · `WE FALL DOWN AS SEEDS ON THE GROUND`

A single scanned notebook page of loose pencil doodles carrying three little scenes: a fish labeled *"OSCAR"* with a heart; two grinning anthropomorphic carrots dripping *"carrot juice"* onto a lump of ground where a tiny figure lies, tagged *"Me, sleeping,"* under the caption *"I was sleeping on Carrot Juice"*; and a crowned stick figure drawn as a five-pointed star reading *"Every human being is A Star, Basically and Potentially."* This one page is clearly the shared source sheet for a small cluster of neighboring rooms. The unlock code is the bridge of *Soul Is A Star* word for word, and the sketch makes it literal: Roy asleep on the ground like a dormant seed being watered, the comic picture of incubation before growth. The star-man with his little crown restates the album's whole thesis in miniature, echoing the old hermetic line that every person is a star, here gently softened to *"basically and potentially."* A nap-doodle that smuggles in a cosmology.

### #65 · BASICALLY & POTENTIALLY · `EVERY HUMAN BEING IS A STAR`

A hand-drawn stick figure whose body *is* a five-pointed star: a smiley face in a small crown for a head, hands and feet at the star's points, ringed by the words *"Every human being is A Star"* and, beneath, *"Basically and Potentially"* (the artifact's title). The code is the sentence itself, documented as a Roy tweet, paraphrasing the old Thelemic line *"every man and every woman is a star."* The drawing literalizes the microcosm idea, the human body inscribed as a pentagram, the Vitruvian figure with a crown, and that crown at the top of the head points quietly at Kether, the Crown of the Tree of Life: an inherent sovereignty and divinity in every ordinary person. It belongs to the run of *33*-era cosmology sketches that keep insisting the soul is stellar by nature.

### #67 · SLEEPING ON CARROT JUICE · `I WAS SLEEPING ON CARROT JUICE`

A deliberately childlike pencil sketch captioned *"I was Sleeping on Carrot Juice":* two grinning, spiky-topped carrots squeeze juice down into a puddle where a tiny stick figure floats, arrow reading *"Me, sleeping."* The code is the caption verbatim, so the artifact keys itself. It is not a lone scrap: Room 64 preserves the full **SEEDS ON THE GROUND** notebook sheet, while Rooms 65–67 divide that sheet into the star-person, Oscar the fish, and this carrot scene. The four rooms form a tiny code nursery in which the parent page and its crops remain distinct rooms without becoming four independent sources.
The seed code makes a cautious reading possible: the sleeping figure receives stored nourishment underground before growth. The grinning carrots may also be the Hall's rabbit-world comedy answering Sir Rabbit from beneath the soil; the image does not establish that connection. The released catalogue has no documented carrot lyric, but that absence cannot reduce a source-family fragment to pure biography or prove when the drawing was made.

#### The father's shoes and inherited movement
A screenshot of the November 28, 2021 tweet: *Midnight crows above* with a rooster, *One mask hanging on a tree*, and *In my fathers shoes* with DNA. The last line also keys the room, so the clue is preserved as its own artifact. This dates the tweet about eight and a half months before the August 2022 mint window, not more than a year.
The last line reads as inherited embodiment: the speaker finds himself inside something made for a father. Its DNA glyph connects that role to heredity, while the mask is something that can hang outside the body. That difference matters to [[Concepts/Inherited Substrate#Ascent and inheritance|the ladder/DNA cluster]]: the haiku supplies inherited footing, Online supplies tracked steps, and David Star supplies ascent that continues as guidance. The haiku does not mention a ladder. The rooster makes *crows* an action, so a crow-omen reading should not be treated as an observation.

A screenshot of two dark iOS message bubbles reading *"Here"* and *"At the gate"*, an *"incoming text"* captured (or staged) and framed as a piece of correspondence rather than a drawing. The code `F876` is a board cell coordinate, and the piece works by the Hall's favorite reversal: an utterly mundane *"on my way, I'm at the gate"* text becomes a threshold image. The gate is one of the project's most load-bearing motifs, the boundary the self eventually has to step through rather than merely stand before, so a plain two-word message lands as a moment of arrival at the edge of one state and the start of another. An intimate, real-world scrap lifted into the mythology of crossing over.
