# The Deep End You found the basement. Good. Older maps, stranger symbols, longer essays. Not required. Very much available. Everything upstairs was built so you could enjoy the songs in five minutes. Everything down here was built because somebody could not stop digging, and the tunnels kept connecting. Nothing on this floor is homework. The songs work fine without any of it, the same way a house works fine whether or not you ever find out what the previous owner buried under the floor. A few things to know before you wander: - The pages down here are long on purpose. Dense is the point. A couple carry a word count so you can pack accordingly. - Everything is still a reading, not a decree. Down here we say "reads as" a lot, and we mean it. - There is no wrong door. Pick whatever pulls. ## The older currents The catalogue drinks from some very old wells. These pages name the wells. The oldest telling says the light was too strong for its container, and the whole job since is picking up sparks.
