# So You Found Jagwar Twin πŸŽͺ Welcome to the Circus! πŸŽͺ You probably arrived through a song, and maybe you are feeling a bit confused. Maybe it was [[Happy Face]], the radio curse that smiles while it bleeds in the backseat of a taxi cab. Maybe it was [[Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)|Bad Feeling]], the one that sounds like a party until the floor drops out. Maybe it was [[Welcome to the Circus]], because apparently the algorithm has a sense of humor and a red coat.

Good! However you got here, that song was a door. Jagwar Twin is the project of Roy English: singer, songwriter, mirror holder, connection-maker, occasional ringmaster of meaningful nonsense. On the surface, these are catchy pop songs with big hooks, creepy smiles, circus lights, and swirling melodies. The canon gets tangled fast. One minute you are listening to a pop song. The next, the Dude, Jesus, Jung, and a Kabbalist are arguing over an Egyptian statue in a bowling-alley parking lot at 3 a.m. But underneath, the songs seem to tell one long and familiar story. There is Roy, the heart of the project. And there is Sir Lucius, the sharp voice in the white face paint, the green apple, the cigarette, the grin that knows exactly where to poke the wound. The Engine: in the story, Roy and Lucius are not two parallel characters; they are two sides of one person. Most of the catalogue is the two of them arguing, bargaining, masking, performing, and trying to break the loop. Lucius believes he knows the only way out. Roy has to decide whether the way out is really a way home. 🎠That is the part to hold onto. Everything else is furniture. Beautiful furniture, haunted furniture, possibly cursed furniture, but still sofas all the way down. Once you hear that, the songs start changing shape [[Happy Face]] stops being just a smile and becomes an order: put the mask on, and if you are sad, do not let it show, hide vulnerability. [[Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)|Bad Feeling]] stops being just a swaggering chant and starts sounding like the hair on your arms standing on end before the mind can explain why. [[Welcome to the Circus]] stops being *only* a banger and becomes the ringmaster's sales pitch: step right up, take your seat, scream and shout, consume the spectacle and in turn be consumed by it. Sir Lucius is not simply a villain. That would be too easy, and honestly would not make for a compelling story arc. He seems to begin as protection: the part of the mind that stood up when something hurt too much. He is brilliant, fast, theatrical, cruel when he thinks cruelty will keep the vulnerable, soft, buried bits safe. He tells the truth, which is where the danger lies. The truth without heart can still become a weapon. Roy is the other pole: heart, sword, song, the part still trying to choose. His side of the map is warmer but not weaker. The heart in this story is not sentimental mush. It has a blade. It has to cut through the mask without becoming another mask and learn to see itself. And then there is Mary, the third voice. She is harder to explain without immediately stepping right out of philosophy and into the spiritual realm, so let's keep it simple: Mary is the presence that calls the hidden self back into the light. Her message is the one Lucius cannot metabolize: you were born to shine. ✨ All of this happens inside what we can call [[Concepts/The Circus]]. It is the attention machine, the show that never closes, the place where they love it when you lose control. It looks like the music industry, Hollywood. It looks like your feed. It looks like a stage. It also looks suspiciously like the inside of a human head at 2:17 a.m. The story so far comes in three big movements. 🌊 [[Subject to Flooding]] is the flood and the wound. 🎰 [[33]] is waking up inside the machine. πŸŽͺ [[Lucius Lullaby (album)|Lucius Lullaby]] is the strange turn where the shadow/protector gets the microphone, top billing, and enough rope to decorate the tent. You do not need a decoder ring or a tarot deck to navigate this, but if you have them available, backup never hurts. here is a simple map to get you started. Lucius holds 🍏 the green apple, πŸ¦β€β¬› the crow, 🚬 the cigarette, πŸ—‘ the dagger, and 🧠 mind divorced from heart (distortion). Roy has 🩷 the heart, βš” the sword, πŸ•ŠοΈ the dove (but not some simple dove of peace, he's called 🦒 Cygnus and he holds to that name's tradition), and 🎢 the song that he arrived with...the one that keeps trying to get free. Mary carries 🩸🧬 the wound and 🌹the blessing: the part that fell, and the part that still remembers how to rise. The πŸŽͺ Circus holds the spectacle.
