# Source and Interpretation Policy This guide tries to be honest about two different things: **what the work actually says**, and **what it might mean**. Keeping those apart is the whole discipline of the site. ## What counts as a source - released songs and verified lyrics (cross-checked against streaming, not lyric-scraper sites) - official music videos, staging, costume, and imagery - the theatrical episodes (*The Interview* / Sir Lucius series) - public interviews, livestreams, and press - public social-media posts from the artist's official accounts It does **not** use private conversations, unreleased material, or non-public fan exchanges as the basis for any claim. Full lyrics and full credits appear here with the artist's permission. ## How interpretation is labeled Most pages mix fact and reading. Three labels keep them straight: - **Grounded** — directly supported by a lyric, a video, an interview, a theatrical scene, or a public post. Stated plainly, because it's simply what's there. *("Roy has said…", "the video shows…")* - **Reading** — not stated outright, but strongly supported by repeated patterns across the work. Hedged on purpose: *reads as, suggests, can be understood as.* - **Speculative** — interesting but unconfirmed; offered as one possible interpretation, never as fact. When a page leans on a particular framework — Jungian shadow, Kabbalah, tarot, Gnosticism — that framework is named, because the correspondence belongs to the framework, not to the artist. "In Jungian terms, Lucius resembles the shadow" is a reading. "Lucius *is* Jung's shadow" would be overreach. ## The one rule to rule them all > Recurrence is cheap evidence; transformation and contrast are dear. At risk of offending Jung, we are requiring a bit more. A symbol that simply repeats proves little. A symbol that *changes* - the protector who becomes a prison, the mirror that turns from sacred to dangerous - is where the real meaning lives....usually The aim is a serious interpretive guide, not a corkboard with red string. It IS, to some extent, a corkboard with read string but note that we are aiming higher. If a reading only holds because a framework was imposed on it, it doesn't belong here...but we just can't quit some of them.
