# Gurdjieff > **One-line reading.** *"Man is asleep. He must wake up."* The alarm-clock voice that runs through the whole catalogue belongs to G. I. Gurdjieff — and Roy wears it tattooed on the back of his hand. Of everyone on Roy's bookshelf, Gurdjieff is the influence he names most. The **WAKE UP** tattoo on the back of his hand is publicly glossed with Gurdjieff's line about sleeping man. Through late 2025 the feed became a small Gurdjieff reader — five dated quote-posts in under two months. And when the *dumbledore* EP needed a promo caption, Roy reached for him with a grin: *"If you wish to get out of prison, the first thing you must do is realize that you are in prison… — Gurdjieff aka GO DUMB."* The most serious doctrine in the project, delivered as a bit. [[Sir Lucius]]'s multiplicity reads straight out of this: the persona that is many masks deep, each one sincere while it's on. **The system cannot wake you.** *"You can never awaken using the same system that put you to sleep in the first place"* — posted by Roy, October 15, 2025. This is the sharpest tool in the box, and the catalogue uses it as a structural problem: the Circus cannot host its own escape, an algorithm optimized for sedation will not amplify the alarm. It's why the sincere song keeps getting stopped, and why the way out keeps routing through *remembering* rather than winning. **The crowd and its fear.** The longest Gurdjieff quote Roy has posted (October 9, 2025) is the bleak one: the crowd *"neither wants nor seeks knowledge,"* and the slavery of mankind rests on that fear. Posted with the hashtags of two songs — Happy Face and Bad Feeling — it reads as an artist annotating his own material: [[Concepts/The Audience]] page carries the weight of it. **Objective art, or the Trojan horse.** Gurdjieff distinguished art that merely leaks the artist's condition from *objective* art built to produce a precise effect. Roy's stated method — the bright pop shell smuggling the dark payload, his own "Trojan Horse" framing on [[Happy Face]] — is this doctrine in practice: engineered sweetness, deliberate aftertaste. **The in-between creature, inverted.** Gurdjieff's man is an in-between being who must *labor* to become fully human. The [[Moths to the Flame]] monologue — *"wild animals are wiser"* — flips that doctrine 180 degrees and gives the flipped version to Lucius: stop laboring upward, regress into the animal, feel funky with the monkeys ([[Bananas]]).
