# Ciphers & Code-Series This is the corner of the archive where the artifacts stop merely *depicting* things and start pointing at each other. Three puzzle-families live here. The backward-chained **Flood Artifacts** (named in Mac Option-key glyphs, anchored to the debut *[[Subject to Flooding]]*). The **numeric catalog IDs** that behave like filing addresses. And the **SA-RA-VI, True-Voice, and gate answer-loops** that close on themselves, the catalog quietly eating its own tail. The rule for all of them is the same: the meaning lives in the *name*, not the picture. A Flood video looks like abstract water and light, but its title is a scrambled word and its code is the *next* artifact's scrambled title. A photograph of a writing session is really named for its own spreadsheet cell. A drawing of an Egyptian priest closes a three-room loop with a funerary epithet. Read these less like pictures and more like a nervous system, passing signals from one object to the next. One thing worth saying up front, because it is easy to get lost in here: the goal is not to solve the maze. It is to notice that Roy built one whose deepest layer is *self-reference*, a set of rooms whose only real subject is the map that contains them. --- ## The artifacts ### #13 · I652 · `HAPPY BIRTHDAY` A three-second loop of Roy scanned into 3D and left unfinished on purpose: shirtless, barefoot, folded into a fetal crouch with his arms over his bowed head, balanced on a torn scrap of wooden floor adrift in a black void. The mesh is riddled with holes, a body that didn't finish rendering, and through the gaps you can read his documented **I'M NOT HERE** forearm tattoo, which Roy has glossed *"but I'm also here."* A here/not-here paradox delivered by a literally half-present body: the glitches aren't a flaw, they're the thesis. The code **HAPPY BIRTHDAY** just says out loud what the pose is doing (a body in the dark, pre-arrival), and it's all over the *"I'm 33"* board: the handwritten *"Happy birthday to you / to Mozart"* resolving to *"the greatest Song ever written: HBD,"* sitting beside the question *"When was I Born?"* Embodiment staged as an event, a digitized incomplete body caught at the threshold of arrival. As for the title **I652**, it's one of Roy's letter-plus-number *cell-codes* (J403, B1034, F316, H1066): a column-and-row address on the *"I'm 33"* spreadsheet he dropped as part of the puzzle, the same filing-address system as **B1034** below. Not a mystery so much as a coordinate, though whether the grid lines up *perfectly* is still argued over. **Connects to →** [[Roy]] · [[Roy's Tattoos]] · [[Concepts/The Upload]] · [[Hall of Mirrors]] ### #24 · B1034 · `B1035` A candid of a writing session in a dim, red-lamped studio: a man in flannel and a newsboy cap at a MacBook, a collaborator sitting in thought, a grinning man in a black snapback (plug gauges, a full-color sleeve) who looks a great deal like Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots, a documented later Jagwar Twin co-writer and drummer, and a blond in white with a messy topknot bent over the gear while a TV glows with a light-path running toward a red-under-blue horizon. What's slyest here is the title: the room isn't named for anyone in it, but for its own address. **B1034** and its key **B1035** are neighboring cells on the *"I'm 33"* spreadsheet, so this is a pure index-node, an artifact whose entire identity is its filing address. The catalog isn't storing the cipher. The catalog *is* the cipher. **Connects to →** [[Great Time to Be Human]] · [[Good Time (1-08)]] · [[Roy]] · [[Hall of Mirrors]] ### #33 · ROMA CALLED ROY · `TRUE VOICE` A loose pen sketch of a wide-eyed figure in a cross-hatched head-covering that reads equally as an Egyptian wig-cover and as Roy's beanie, captioned *"ROMA - true of voice -"* with an arrow marked *"Roy"* aimed at the head, a small *"V†"* pendant, and a crawling child-figure below. The catch, if you can call archaeology a catch, is that **Roma called Roy** was a genuine High Priest of Amun under Ramesses II, and *"true of voice"* (*maa-kheru*) is the standard Egyptian epithet for the justified dead. So the drawing is Roy meeting his own 3,200-year-old namesake and quietly sliding his face over the priest's, a past-self phantom. The code **TRUE VOICE** pulls double duty: it's the funerary epithet, and it's biographical, a DM preserved on the board asks Roy, *"remember that whole portal timeline where your 'true voice' came in?"* In the maze's answer-space it sits in a closed three-step loop, a ring made of a name, a catalog number, and an epithet, each swallowing the next. A self that outlives its own death by remembering its filing number. On a board this preoccupied with the immortality of consciousness, that shape is no accident. **Connects to →** [[Roy]] · [[Concepts/The Upload]] · [[Hall of Mirrors]] ### #39 · FLOOD ARTIFACT (霊的な愛) · `B1034` A 14-second dream: soft-focus aqua water shot from above, small red-orange fish drifting through the milky haze, then a hard cut to an ink glyph on pale green paper, a circle around a bisected disc ringed by two orbits of dots that blink between solid and open like stations lighting up in sequence, before it all goes black. The Japanese title 霊的な愛, *"spiritual love,"* is one of the ring-labels on the *"Enlightened Being"* concentric self-diagram from the board (highest self / spiritual will / spiritual love / soul awareness / center / emotion / subconscious / body), and the closing glyph reads as exactly that kind of figure: a centered self in concentric rings. One of the twelve Flood Artifacts, it splices the series' water-language into the board's soul-anatomy, love as one ring of the soul, glimpsed underwater. **Connects to →** [[Precious Time]] · [[The Circle]] · [[Kabbalah - The Tree of Life]] · [[Roy]] ### #42 · R1045 · `ROMA CALLED ROY` A single horizontal strip of hieroglyphs in Roy's sketchbook hand: cartouche ovals, seated figures, serpent and water-ripple signs, reed and club glyphs, closing on a seated man holding an implement. It's the inscription panel of a three-part set (the captioned portrait, this glyph strip, and a third page that adds a *"just woke up"* figure), the three codes locking into a closed loop. The unlock code names **Roma called Roy**, the historical High Priest of Amun at Thebes under Ramesses II and Roy English's literal ancient namesake, the one Roy met through a museum *"Statue of Roy"* placard he photographed onto the board. *"True of voice"* is *maa-kheru*, *"justified,"* the epithet granted to the dead who pass the weighing of the heart, which makes the filing exactly right: a funerary inscription and a name-as-destiny claim in one, arguing that Roy's authentic voice (as against the *"second voice"* of doubt he names in his Diary-of-a-Loser posts) is ancient, and already acquitted. **Connects to →** [[Concepts/The Voice]] · [[Concepts/Inherited Substrate]] · [[Roy]] · [[Hall of Mirrors]] ### #43 · TRUE VOICE · `R1045` A page in three registers: a shrouded figure with arms flung wide, captioned **JUST WOKE UP**; a vertical column of hieroglyphs; and a larger portrait of a man in a nemes headdress holding a *heka* crook, labeled *"ROMA - true of voice -"* with an arrow reading *"Roy,"* a small sphinx-child at his chest. *"True of voice"* is *maa-kheru,* the epithet for the justified dead who pass Egyptian judgment, and Roma-called-Roy was a real Ramesside high priest of Amun, so the drawing simply *identifies* modern Roy with his namesake. The board supplies the receipts: the *"Statue of Roy"* placard (*"Roy, a well-known high priest of Amun-Ra in Thebes… Ramesside period"*), a DM asking *"remember that whole portal timeline where your 'true voice' came in?,"* and Roy's own *"Modern Archeology"* series, which includes a piece titled *"True of Voice."* The whole page is the ARG's reincarnation-and-remembering thesis compressed into one sketch: a soul that *just woke up* and recognized it's been carrying the same name, and the same true voice, for three thousand years. **Connects to →** [[Soul Is A Star]] · [[Another Way II Heaven]] · [[Concepts/The Voice]] · [[Roy]] ### #54 · FLOOD ARTIFACT (¬ø©øß) · `L737` An 18-second VHS-grain collage: the sun cresting a sea of clouds from above, intercut with archival footage of a tuxedoed conductor and his cellists mid-performance, resolving on a hand-drawn glyph, a ring of small circles orbiting a larger one whose center is a bisected circumpunct, dark dots hovering above and shifting frame to frame, so the drawing itself animates. The Option-key name **¬ø©øß** decodes to **LOGOS**, and the montage more or less *argues* the word in pictures: the sun ordering the sky, the conductor ordering the orchestra, the monad ordering its satellites, three images of the one principle harmonizing the many. *Logos* keeps surfacing across the Hall and on the board, so this is the room holding the series' center-word. The twelve Flood Artifacts decode as a set to *Subject to Flooding*-era vocabulary (dream, hell, movetoyou, nff, jwt, fish), the debut's own language hidden in glyphs. **Connects to →** [[Concepts/The Pattern]] · [[The Circle]] · [[Hall of Mirrors]] ### #77 · ROY ARTIFACT F316 · `BUILD A BRIDGE` A scanned 1990s film print of Roy as a small boy, maybe four to six, blond bowl cut, blue T-shirt, crouched barefoot-in-sneakers on a plywood deck, driving a nail with a full-size claw hammer, a split-rail fence and sunlit trees behind him. Roy glossed the code himself: *"He's building a bridge… we love a pun."* So the child carpentry is also the songwriter's *bridge,* and also the ARG's own connective labor, since this artifact's own title, **F316**, is the key to the *Venus is a Dove* room. The photo is a working link in the very maze it shows him learning to build. It grounds the cosmology's maker-figure in the most ordinary origin available: the architect of an entire mirror maze, introduced as a kid with a hammer and a nail. **Connects to →** [[Roy]] · [[Hall of Mirrors]] ### #85 · RA-LINK · `SA-LINK` An iPhone Notes screenshot of Roy's working draft of *"Online,"* every line tagged with an emoji gloss: a ladder for *"They know my every step,"* a brain for *"They infiltrate my brain,"* a scarab for *"a Bug inside your database,"* a laptop for *"you can get it online,"* a red heart plus spiderweb for *"Everyone loves the internet."* The draft still carries the v1 line *"All the mamas and the Lamas say we come from space"* (the released variant is *"shamans and the Brahman's"*), which dates it to the *33*-era notebook stage. As **RA-LINK** opening with **SA-LINK**, it's one leg of the catalog's SARAVI loop: follow the maze's own hyperlinks and you assemble the oracle's name, *Sa-Ra-Vi.* The *"link"* pun only lands because all three of those rooms live inside a draft of the song about the internet-as-web, the spider's food and the web that catches it. **Connects to →** [[Online]] · [[SARAVI]] · [[Concepts/Witnessing vs Surveillance]] · [[Roy]] ### #86 · D637 · `DYNAMIC TENSION IN GENERATIONS` A black-and-white 1980s studio portrait of three adults, all in sunglasses: a permed woman in a black top and white skirt, a center man in white aviators and a denim jacket holding a styrofoam cup, and a man in dark shades and a utility shirt, against a mottled backdrop. Roy was born in 1989, and the surrounding rooms are thick with family relics (*Father_Mirror, Mother_Mirror, Dad's Clock, Grandfather's Mask*), so this reads as a found photo from his parents' generation, the grown-ups of the moment just before Roy existed. The title **D637** is a filing address, not a name, and the code **DYNAMIC TENSION IN GENERATIONS** names precisely what the picture stages: the performed cool of the prior generation worn like a mask, and the tension that gets handed downward, the generational-inheritance thread the *33*-era material keeps circling. It also sits mid-chain in the *gate* sequence, wiring the phantom-family photo into the ARG's gate-and-threshold architecture. **Connects to →** [[Happy Face]] · [[Roy]] · [[Hall of Mirrors]] ### #91 · 51.843 · `HIGHER RESOLVE` A hand-drawn pencil triangle: corners **A** and **B** at the base, *"Both A/B"* at the apex marked *"Polarity Balance Point – higher resolve,"* and the base midpoint labeled *"Neither A B – lower resolve, untrue balance based on exclusion."* This is Roy's whole resolution mechanism drawn as geometry: a true synthesis holds *both* poles and climbs to a third point above them, while a compromise that ditches both just sits in the dead middle. It matches his 2026 statement that instinct and intellect get resolved by a higher third faculty, intuition, *"the god voice,"* correct ordering rather than erasure. The title deepens the picture: **51.843** is the Great Pyramid's face-slope angle (~51.84°), so the triangle is also the pyramid in cross-section, its apex the polarity balance point. One of the cleanest single-image statements of the cosmology sitting under the entire Roy/Lucius, heart/mind architecture: never pick a pole, never split the difference, resolve upward. **Connects to →** [[Concepts/Duality]] · [[Sir Lucius]] · [[Kabbalah - The Tree of Life]] · [[Roy]] ### #92 · ROS TAU · `51.843` A hand-drawn triangle with vertices **Knowledge** (bottom-left), **Understanding** (bottom-right), and **Wisdom** (apex), its edges labeled as a cycle: *"progression"* carries knowledge up to understanding, a hatched *"Ascension of consciousness"* climbs to wisdom, and *"Empty cup"* runs back *down* from wisdom to knowledge, Roy's documented beginner's-mind surrender drawn as the return leg that keeps the whole cycle turning. The three vertices are the supernal triad of the Tree of Life (Chokmah/Wisdom, Binah/Understanding, Da'at/Knowledge), the same Kabbalah that saturates the board, where this exact sketch is documented. **ROS TAU** is Rostau, the ancient Egyptian name for the Giza necropolis and mythic gateway to the Duat, and **51.843** is the Great Pyramid's face-slope angle, so the abstract triangle of consciousness *is* the pyramid, read as an ascension machine. **Connects to →** [[Kabbalah - The Tree of Life]] · [[Concepts/The Pattern]] · [[Roy]] ### #94 · THE VENUS CONNECTION · `VI LINK` A hand-drawn number diagram: **4, 5, 7, 8** at the four corners, each struck through a central **6** to form an X, with *"1 Kings 5:5"* noted at the right and *"The VENUS Connection"* lettered beneath. The placement reproduces the middle of the Tree of Life exactly as it's conventionally drawn (Gevurah 5 upper-left, Chesed 4 upper-right, Hod 8 lower-left, Netzach 7 lower-right, Tiferet 6 at center), so the X is four paths converging on the heart-sphere. The code **VI LINK** reads the drawing straight: VI is Roman-numeral 6, the link every other number routes through, and in numerology 6 is Venus's number. It also feeds the Ra→Sa→Vi loop that spells SARAVI's name out of its own links. And the *1 Kings 5:5* citation, Solomon vowing to build a house for the Name, frames all this number-architecture as temple-construction, chiming with the 33/temple register the board runs on. **Connects to →** [[Kabbalah - The Tree of Life]] · [[SARAVI]] · [[Concepts/The Pattern]] · [[Roy]] ### #105 · VI-LINK · `RA-LINK` Another phone Notes screenshot of the *"Online"* draft, verse 2 and the outro this time, with nearly every line rendered as an emoji rebus: a battery for *"Spider's food,"* a DNA/ladder for *"they know my every step,"* a brain for *"infiltrate my brain,"* a caduceus-elf-alien for the *"we come from space"* line, a dolphin for the Jupiter joke, skull-skull-coffin for *"Bye! The title **A#** and code **GREY** form a note-to-color equation lifted straight off the board, whose *"AI musical scale for consciousness evolution"* pairs an ascending note row (…A, A#, B) with color swatches (…black, grey…). The title **SA-LINK** marks it as one of the three name-link rooms whose chained codes assemble **SA-RA-VI,** so this demo page doubles as a load-bearing joint in the maze: the surveillance-jingle's own hook is the key that spells the oracle's name. **Connects to →** [[Online]] · [[SARAVI]] · [[Concepts/Machine vs Human]] · [[Roy]] ### #127 · FLOOD ARTIFACT (˜ƒƒ) · `霊的な愛` A ~16-second piece in three movements: first a churning wall of electric turquoise vapor lit from within, the literal *"flood"* as a rising luminous tide; then heavily degraded VHS footage, scanlines and *mirror-reversed* on-screen text (you can make out *"THE COLOR"* and *"BLACK & WHITE"*) with a phantom image bleeding through; and finally a hand-inked sigil on mint-green paper, a ringed circle around a bisected *"eye/cell"* glyph, flanked by falling teardrops and ringed by radiating dots, reading as a sun, a monstrance, or a weeping eye. The code **霊的な愛** is Japanese for *"spiritual love,"* and this is one of the twelve backward-threaded Flood Artifacts, in which each card's code is the *previous* card's Mac Option-glyph title. It belongs to the *Subject to Flooding* album-world the whole series is named for: flood, tears, *"spiritual love"* as the emotional register of being submerged. **Connects to →** [[Subject to Flooding]] · [[Concepts/The Pattern]] · [[Roy]] ### #131 · FLOOD ARTIFACT (©øø∂∂å†) · `LET GO` An 18-second loop: a bloom of magenta/pink ink diffusing through water resolves into a blurred, pink-saturated human face (it reads as Roy), then washes out to solid aqua-blue before cutting to a hand-drawn glyph on mint paper, a circle around a slotted eye-oval with teardrops inside, a sun-eye-and-rain sigil. It's part of the backward-chained Flood series (each code is the previous artifact's Option-glyph name). Both the *"Flood"* framing and the **LET GO** code aim straight at the debut *Subject to Flooding,* whose stated meaning is *"we are all subject to flooding,"* the dissolving of ego and the walls of separation, surrender rather than escape, which the footage takes literally: a self diffusing into water. The teardrop-and-eye sigil is the flood boiled down to an emblem, the weeping, watching source at the center of the deluge. **Connects to →** [[Subject to Flooding]] · [[Concepts/Source vs Reflection]] · [[Roy]] ### #133 · FLOOD ARTIFACT (R100) · `∆∑†` A ~35-second clip that opens on a blank blue-green field of water and slowly surfaces Roy English's face floating just beneath it (the submerged-in-the-bathtub look of the era), before dissolving into the hand-lettered title card **SUBJECT TO FLOODING,** footered *"An album by Jagwar Twin © 2018 Original Mind."* The debut album cover, delivered as a phantom reveal. It's one of the twelve backward-chained Flood Artifacts, its code a set of Mac Option-key glyphs rather than a word. The album title carries Roy's stated meaning, *"we should all let go of ego… we are all Subject to Flooding,"* the self overwhelmed, vulnerability as the universal condition, and it sits on the documented water-line thread (Eye Alaska 2010 → Subject to Flooding 2018 → *"I am the shore"* 2026). It's one of the twelve-video Flood chain, where each code is the previous artifact's encoded name. Thematically it sits in the *Subject to Flooding* cluster, its drowning imagery the flood as the medium in which the Hall's phantoms surface and vanish. As a defocused red-in-water abstraction with a cryptographic name, it functions less as a discrete picture than as a node in the self-referential chain: a structural, atmospheric piece of the maze rather than a portrait of anything. **Connects to →** [[Subject to Flooding]] · [[Concepts/The Pattern]] · [[Roy]] ### #135 · FLOOD ARTIFACT (µø√´†ø¥ø¨) · `¬ø©øß` A 15-second silent phantom: a hazy, out-of-focus horizon (sun low over what reads as sea or desert haze) cross-fading from warm sepia into cold blue, then resolving onto a hand-inked sigil on pale paper, a circle around a smaller bisected circle (an eye, or a phi-like mark) ringed by alternating hollow ring-dots and solid blobs, like water droplets crossed with moon phases. It's one of the twelve Flood Artifacts, each unlocked by the previous one's Mac Option-glyph name (the solved members include ∂®´åµ = dream, ˙´¬¬ = hell, Vi†ruvian, 霊的な愛 = spiritual love). The visual grammar, dissolving atmosphere, water symbols, an eye at the center of a ring, enacts the debut's flood motif: the self submerged, the ego-walls dissolving, orientation sought *inside* the deluge rather than in escaping it. It belongs to the flood/water pole, the deliberate opposite of the Circus/flame pole that arrives later with *Lucius Lullaby.* **Connects to →** [[Subject to Flooding]] · [[Concepts/The Pattern]] · [[Roy]] ### #137 · FLOOD ARTIFACT (∂®´åµ) · `©øø∂∂å†` A ~14-second grainy vintage-film montage: badly degraded 8mm/16mm-style footage of the U.S. Capitol dome framed by trees, blurred crowds, the edges of marble statuary, washed-out cloud-and-water textures, the flickering archival mood that runs through the Flood series, resolving on a hand-drawn ink glyph, a double circle around a slotted eye/lens surrounded by radiating dots and teardrops. This is one of the twelve Flood Artifacts, a backward-threaded cipher whose glyph names are Mac Option-key encodings: this artifact's own name decodes to *"dream,"* and its code opens the next link. The title *"∆∑†"* (delta / summation-sigma / cross) and the code aren't words but Mac Option-key glyph strings: one link in the backward-threaded chain, where each code is the *next* artifact's encoded name. The *"cipher,"* in other words, is a keyring, not a message. The whole series is the behind-the-scenes phantom layer of *Subject to Flooding,* where *"the flood"* is everything competing to direct consciousness (culture, time, inherited dreams, raw human weather), and the blue-to-flesh-to-eye progression stages exactly that submersion-and-orientation drama. **Connects to →** [[Subject to Flooding]] · [[Concepts/The Upload]] · [[Concepts/The Pattern]] · [[Roy]] ### #139 · FLOOD ARTIFACT (H101) · `∂®´åµ` A ~12-second macro video that is, in the most literal sense, dozens of identical smiley-face potato snacks bobbing and cooking in bubbling, milky-blue liquid, a churning mass of grinning faces submerged underwater, before it cuts to a hand-drawn glyph (a circle around a vertical-slit *"eye,"* ringed by droplet-circles and topped by a seed-dot). It's titled *"H101,"* and its code **∂®´åµ** decodes via Mac Option-glyphs to **DREAM,** a direct pointer to the released song *"Dream / Dream."* Read against the cosmology the joke turns serious: a flooded field of identical smiling faces literalizes the album's flood metaphor and the Dream/Dream reading of collective sleep, mass Flattened Identity, everyone wearing the same grin while submerged, with the terminal eye-in-a-circle glyph as the witness watching the dreamers. It's one of the twelve Flood Artifacts, this one titled *"Vi†ruvian,"* the Mac Option-glyph rendering of **Vitruvian,** Leonardo's ideal-proportion Man, the human measured against the cosmos. The imagery does what the series title says: a self submerged, memory surfacing through water. This one's own name, *"˙´¬¬,"* decodes to **hell,** while its code *"Vi†ruvian"* is the encoded name of the adjacent Flood Artifact, threading the series backward rather than describing anything in the clip. The Flood series takes its name from Roy English's debut *Subject to Flooding,* and this montage's gambling imagery (JACKPOT, coins, 25¢) laid over intimate family footage sits dead-center in that album's world: the flood you try to outrun by keeping the party moving. **Connects to →** [[Hell Of A Night]] · [[Subject to Flooding]] · [[Concepts/The Pattern]] · [[Roy]] --- ## Read next - [[Artifacts]] — the hub, and the rest of the artifact groups. - [[Hall of Mirrors]] — the ARG these ciphers chain through. - [[Hall of Mirrors/The I'm 33 Board]] — the spreadsheet-cosmology most of these codes and cells are cut from.
