# The Manifesto Cards
> [!gist] Are you content? Call now
> Brought to you buy Jagwar Twin.
>
> The Manifesto Cards are the project's recurring title-card device: a flyer-like graphic stamped on releases since around 2019, blackletter title, sponsor stamp, and a tiny manifesto hidden in the fine print, set deliberately too small to read while you're thumbing past. It is the music's whole trick shrunk to flyer scale, medicine hidden in steak. The casual scroller gets an ad; the one who stops and zooms in gets a thesis.
>
> The concealment is the invitation. The card dresses its creed as junk advertising, a registered trademark, a breathless CALL NOW, a fake sponsor frame, and lets it walk right out into the feed, where it filters its own audience. Nobody is forced into the deep end, and nobody who looks closely leaves empty-handed. Spectacle used to dismantle the spectacle, on the smallest canvas the project owns.
**Where it enters**
* The [[Happy Face]] title card (2020), displayed on a CRT television showing an inverted face: "BROUGHT TO YOU BUY JAGWAR TWIN" (the misspelling is printed on the card, a purchase instruction hiding in a typo) and the seeker-line "ARE YOU CONTENT? CALL NOW."
* The [[Down to You]] title card (2021): "WHAT IS IT THAT YOU SEEK?", the sigils NONE, the JT glyph, and AS ABOVE SO BELOW, and the micro-type manifesto "To change the world one must first change the concept of the world. To do that one must change the concept of one's self."
* The [[Bounce]] opening title card (Live Underground, 2026): the Sefer Yetzirah passage on the letter Beth, printed verbatim, the first actual Hebrew letter on any card.
That is the surface. The drawers go one card, and one reading, deeper at a time.
---
> [!map]- The kit of parts
> The cards are a fixed kit, mixed and matched per release:
>
> * a **blackletter title** plus an era-tag (like "LIVE UNDERGROUND IN LOS ANGELES");
> * a **"presented by / brought to you by Jagwar Twin"** frame, sometimes punned to "brought to you **buy**";
> * a **seeker-question** pointed straight at the viewer: "what is it that you seek?", "are you content?", "who are you without the mask?";
> * a **sigil-triad**, a small cluster of glyphs and slogans;
> * a flanking **parenthetical echo** in the typography, (TICK)…(TOCK) on Happy Face, (bounce)…(bounce), (welcome)…(welcome), (wake up)…(wake up), the card winking at its own rhythm;
> * and the payload: a **micro-type manifesto paragraph** that only resolves when you stop and look closely.
>
> The register is vintage TV infomercial, esoteric doctrine in the costume of late-night junk advertising. One honesty note that matters later: not every release carries a card, and the content genuinely varies. The kit is a habit, not a machine.
> [!lore]- The whole run, card by card
> Short excerpts, in order:
>
> * **[[Long Time Coming]] (remixes), ~2019:** the device's first appearance. Sigil: a hamsa, the eye-in-hand. No seeker-line or "by"-frame yet.
> * **[[Happy Face]], 2020:** the inverted-face CRT card, framed as a "2020 JAGWAR TWIN HAPPY FACE® RELEASE." Payload: "…burning the old world down to the ground… out of the fire something new is being birthed. This is the death of my generation."
> * **[[I Like to Party]], 2021:** "PRESENTED BY JAGWAR TWIN"; barker copy "Attention! / LET'S SEE YOU CLAP THEM HANDS!"; a praying-hands, cross, and JT-glyph sigil-triad. Payload: "Devil waking up to claim the kingdom. People waking up to claim what's in them. Heaven is within your heart… you're the King." The cover plates a cake as a ringed planet circled by skulls and cherubs, tagline "A NEW DIRECTION AFFECTING THE STATE OF YOUR MIND."
> * **[[Down to You]], 2021:** the concept-of-self card quoted above, seeker-line "WHAT IS IT THAT YOU SEEK?"
> * **[[Bounce]] (Live Underground), 2026:** the opening title card of the live track. Sigils: sunburst, "life is short" (also the song's own lyric), a jaguar-skull doodle. Payload: the Sefer Yetzirah Beth passage verbatim: "HE MADE THE LETTER BETH KING OVER WISDOM. HE BOUND A CROWN TO IT… AND WITH THEM HE FORMED THE MOON IN THE UNIVERSE, SUNDAY IN THE YEAR, AND THE RIGHT EYE IN THE SOUL."
> * **[[Welcome to the Circus]] (Live Underground), 2026:** a concentric-labyrinth seal reading "you are the maze"; the embedded question "who are you without the mask?"; and two lines that are not in the studio song: "Did Hermes paint his face? I don't know, maybe." A separate title card reads "Produced In Cooperation With B.MR.C" (see [[BMRC]]).
> * **[[Lucius Lullaby]] (Live Underground), 2026:** the title-track card, a scripture-and-lullaby manifesto with no Hebrew letter (unlike Bounce's Beth). Its documented fragments braid the serpent of Genesis 3, "no man can serve two masters" with Dylan's "serve somebody" (an allusion Roy names, not a writing credit), and "life is but a dream, wake up," all on the sleep-versus-wake axis.
> [!reading]- Three words, one argument
> The sharpest single line on any card is Happy Face's **"are you content?"**, and it reads as a three-way pun doing the work of the whole project in three words.
>
> Content (adjective): happy, satisfied, the literal Happy-Face question. Content (noun): media to be consumed, are you THE content, pairing exactly with that card's "brought to you buy." And content again: complacent, contained, settled inside the system, the precise opposite of the other cards' "what is it that you seek?"
>
> One infomercial throwaway holds the entire consumerism-versus-seeker argument, and it points straight at [[The Circus|the Spectacle]], [[Consumption]], and [[The Algorithm]]. And here is the part that keeps it honest: the pun isn't an interpreter's invention. It is grounded in Roy's own public Instagram diary from around 2020, written after watching a documentary on A.I. merging with humans: "…something labeled 'content'. Are you content?" The card is that joke, formalized into print.
> [!door]- Call now, operators are standing by
> The seeker-lines had back-ends. The phone number on the 2020 Happy Face microsite deathofmygeneration.fun, "(313)-251-4932 / ARE YOU CONTENT? CALL NOW," was independently cracked years later as a [[The Hall of Mirrors|Hall of Mirrors]] room code: the digits-only string unlocks the ARG's "ARE YOU CONTENT?" poster room. So the are-you-content device runs across three real layers of the project: the 2020 card, the 2020 microsite, and the web3 ARG, with a working unlock buried in a years-old phone gag.
>
> And it wasn't the only one. Down to You's "what is it that you seek?" is itself a solved Hall of Mirrors code, tied to a minted artifact for the released track, and it is the site meta-description of the recovered predecessor microsite thechaosorder.academy. Both early-wave seeker-questions turn out to have had a live door behind them the whole time. The bit was load-bearing from the start.
> [!reading]- The fine print knew the story early
> Read in sequence, the cards were carrying the project's core doctrines years before the songs and characters that later made those doctrines famous. This is a strong reading, not a documented plan, but the dates are real:
>
> * **The kingdom within.** "You're the King" (I Like to Party, 2021) is the same move as Welcome to the Circus's "you are the maze" (2026), and it rhymes with the Chaplin line sampled in [[Superhuman (Interlude)]], "the kingdom of God is within man."
> * **The Devil, before the name.** "Devil waking up to claim the kingdom" sits on a 2021 card, roughly two years before [[Sir Lucius]] arrives by name in the 2023 dream-origin.
> * **As above, so below** is a Down to You card sigil in 2021, five years before 2026's "Did Hermes paint his face?"
> * **Change the concept of self** (2021) is the mirror doctrine of [[Source vs Reflection]] in plain language.
> * **Burn it down, then rebirth.** "Death of my generation" (2020) reads, in the alchemical register, as the blackening (see [[Nigredo]]), later staged as the Bad Feeling fire-close.
>
> Held as one part of a larger synthesis: the cards are one of three recurring visual devices (with the realized Circus imagery and the silent-Lucius end-tag) that make the 2026 material read as the unveiling of a mythology already present by 2020-2021, not its birth. See [[The Visual Canon Throughline]]. Two guards travel with it. Not every release carries a card and the content varies, so this is convergence, a long-form continuity, not proof of a locked blueprint. And it has a falsifier: a card that contradicts the doctrines, or Roy framing the cards as one-off art direction, would break it.
> [!descend] The Deep End
> The heavier apparatus behind this page, the letter Beth and the heart-over-mind reading, Hermes in the letter-slot, how the letter-cipher question got settled, the Saturn cake, the fuller microsite manifestos, and the full reading list of named and resonant sources, lives in [[The Manifesto Cards — The Deep End]]. Dense and speculative by design. The page you are on stands without it.
> [!receipts]- Sources and confidence
> Grounded in dated, public @JagwarTwin videos: the card template, the on-screen text, the sigils, and the dates, quoted verbatim here. Also grounded and public: the two recovered microsites (deathofmygeneration.fun, thechaosorder.academy), Roy's ~2020 "are you content?" diary line, his 2022 culture3 remarks on the Happy Face interactive, and the cracked and minted Hall of Mirrors codes. One housekeeping note: the card text was transcribed from frame captures and still awaits a final check by eye; the quotes are solid enough to print, flagged all the same.
>
> Strong readings, labeled where they stand: the triple pun's weight, the doctrines-carried-early through-line, and the one-work synthesis, each grounded in the material but interpretive.
>
> Framework, attributed to its traditions and held in the Deep End: the letter-mysticism, the Hermes recast, the alchemical and mythic registers. None of this is the answer; it is one way of seeing it.
