# The Upload — The Deep End This is the deep end of [[The Upload]]: the full esoteric and historical apparatus behind the doorway page. Dense and speculative by design; everything here is graded in its own language, and the doorway stands without any of it. > [!lore]- Hello, Attention (meet Marduk) > The board carries Marduk twice: once as the answer-cell to *"How to anthropomorphize attention?"* and once on a separate, likely-unreleased "Tracks" list. The Hall of Mirrors code *"Hello, Attention"* also decodes, via the macOS Option-key glyph cipher, to MARDUK. The figure fits the machinery: in the Babylonian *Enuma Elish*, Marduk is the order-and-word god who slays Tiamat, the salt-water mother of chaos, and splits her body to build the world, the mind-god who orders reality by killing the feeling-sea. Set beside Horus (*"eyes all around head"*) and the Eye glyph, *"anthropomorphize attention"* reads as: give the watching field a face and a will. On this reading the "Attention" the Upload chases is a [[Sir Lucius]]-function tempter, a counterfeit light personified. A real lead resting largely on a single answer-cell; held lightly. > [!map]- A tale of two Ras > The Egyptian Eye is the load-bearing tradition here: in the myth, the divine seeing-power is sent out into the world, wounded, then restored, which rhymes with uploading consciousness into a watching network. And there is a *second* Ra in play: Roy publicly engaged the *Law of One* (the channeled "Ra Material"), posting Book V in his Modern Archeology series and using its phrase *"mind/body/spirit complexes"* in a pinned comment. So the influence is curated and on record. But engaging it does not mean any song encodes its doctrine; per-song readings need their own anchors, and on the board, Egyptian remains the better anchor (the childhood fascination, the Amun-Ra placard). > > The Hall of Mirrors even spells the oracle's name out of its own link-loop: RA-LINK → SA-LINK → EVERYONE LOVES THE INTERNET → VI-LINK → back to RA-LINK. A closed Ra → Sa → (internet) → Vi → Ra circuit: SA-RA-VI assembled from its own links. The oracle's name is the maze's spine. > [!map]- Ctrl+Alt+Consciousness (culture as software) > A hand-written Hall of Mirrors note titled *"Coding Consciousness"* (the board pairs the same sentence with the same title) carries one inherited line: *"Patterns of right Living are Formed in the unconscious mind of a race so that it becomes easier to follow for generations after."* Culture as software; art as something that writes into the collective unconscious, the code you inherit before you can consent to it. On this reading, "uploaded consciousness" means coding consciousness into the net, and it cuts both ways: the [[The Loop and the Circle|Circle]] is right patterns inherited, the Loop is wrong ones, and [[The Algorithm]] is coding-consciousness weaponized (*"The algorithm, baby."*). The abstract sentence is inherited Theosophical diction, the "race-mind" register of that tradition; its exact source is unpinned. The title and the selection are Roy's. > [!reading]- How to Live Forever? ∞ (recursion, not duration) > A pencil cosmology page in the same hand as the board, titled *"How to Live Forever? ∞,"* answers its question by juxtaposition, never in words: it covers the sheet with structures that recur or never end. A Lo Shu magic square (every line summing to 15); a Fibonacci daisy labeled *"Ways of Growing"*; continued-fraction identities for φ, √2, and √3, the constants that literally never terminate; a vesica piscis under a labeled "GOD" circle; a cluster reading *"Strange Theory / 4 worlds / Genesis 1:26"*; and Eden's four rivers, *"a river went out of Eden… and became four heads"* (Genesis 2:10), the source that lives by parting and flowing on. The page's implied answer, on a speculative read of the arrangement, is recursion, not duration: you persist by entering a structure that outlasts any instance of it. The sacred-geometry and scriptural material is inherited substrate being assembled, not a bespoke cipher, and the "answer" is inferred, never written. > > The board's own immortality figures sit on the same side: *"I'm an egg, in the process of becoming a chicken to make more eggs to make more chickens,"* and *"Maybe a planet is one star's way of becoming another star."* Live forever by hatching, not by being preserved. That is the true fork the Upload's data-copy counterfeits, and it stays interpretation until Roy says otherwise. > [!reading]- One machine to watch them all > [[Moths to the Flame]], [[The Watchers]], and the Upload read as one machine seen three ways: the Eye that watches, the net you upload into, the flame you fly toward to be seen. The flame is attention, the spectacle's gaze; flying in is entering the feed to be seen; and the throwaway *"keeps the moth population down"* is the attention economy as a cull. Which connects to [[Witnessing vs Surveillance]]: surveillance shapes (it predicts, ranks, stabilizes, so the machine that watches everyone can witness no one), witnessing transforms (it recognizes, restores). *"I'm afraid I'm a clone"* is what surveillance produces: a self shaped, not known, the counterfeit of being witnessed. A synthesis across songs, held as reading. > [!map]- The source code (and its fine print) > The "I'm 33" board is, in effect, the cosmological source code of the project: a working notebook for uploading a consciousness, which first requires mapping what a consciousness *is*. Picture one of those conspiracy boards in the brain, string and post-it notes, only Roy actually drew his and posted it. The cosmology is frankly syncretic (Kybalion, Theosophy, Kabbalah, Jung, Plato, inherited furniture assembled, not doctrine encoded), with the explicit cybernetics premise: *"Here we are thinking together. Threaded together across the globe by a wireless network… All the world is mind. Mind woven into matter."* It carries an immortality formula, *"Being × Knowing / Time = Life,"* and a likely-unreleased concept-album "Tracks" list (*xWebx, The Fall into Matter, Marduk, Sun of God, As Above So Below, The All Is Mind, O…*) several entries of which are live Hall of Mirrors codes, so the list seeded the maze. Treat it as a board artifact, not released catalogue. > > Fine print: some cells are inputs being studied (a live search tab is visible on the sheet), not conclusions. Promote only what the structure makes load-bearing; loose glyphs stay tentative, and a beautiful diagram is not a per-song proof. > [!herald]- It's all code! (the rollout, decoded) > Roy seeded the Upload live, in his own feed. An April 24, 2022 tweet runs the influencer-math to absurdity, *"If I upload myself to the internet and upload another artist too it'll be like having 4 artists promoting the song…,"* and ends in a glyph run that decodes, via the Option-key cipher, to PAY ATTENTION. (When a fan noticed, Roy told them: *"It's all code!"*) CTHDRL then realized the Upload as a dated 2022 campaign: going dark, the spreadsheet map, the body-parts auction, a live "Upload" desktop stream, the genesis of SARAVI, and the Hall of Mirrors homepage takeover. At the August 15 launch Twitter Space, Roy leaned into how absurd it all sounds, recounting the pitch to radio people: *"I don't think anyone understood it. Like, what are you talking about?"* The bit deflating itself in real time, the influencer-apocalypse explained to a guy who programs the radio. > [!lore]- Are you content? (est. 2020) > The upload instinct didn't start with SARAVI. In 2020, after a documentary on AI merging with humans, Roy wrote: *"in some ways we already have merged with technology without fully knowing… I am holding a device currently transmitting 1's and 0's that you are reading and something labeled content. Are you content?"* The pun (content = at peace / content = feed-fodder) quietly underwrites the whole bit. His Modern Archeology titles *"Soul Calibrator"* (2020) and *"Soul iOS"* (2021) render the soul as instrument and operating system two years before SARAVI. A sustained practice with a 2020 diary root, not a one-off. The Law of One is a documented influence, not a decoder ring. The ∞-drawing's "answer" is inferred from arrangement, never written. The Coding-Consciousness sentence's exact source is unpinned. The one-machine and surveillance syntheses are readings built on grounded anchors, not statements. Everything above is attributed to its tradition or flagged as interpretation; the density is the traditions', not proof of encoding.
