# The Pattern — The Deep End > [!gist] The heavy machinery behind [[The Pattern]] > This is the dense floor: the full influence roster, the board's parallel ladders, the film syllabus worked one film at a time, the immortality worksheet, and the number-work. Dense and speculative by design. Everything here is framework or deep-cut artifact reading unless marked otherwise, and the anti-overfit rule from the main page governs all of it: license the lens, not a master key. Start at [[The Pattern]] if you have not. --- > [!cast]- The Usual Suspects (who built the system) > The Pattern is an unembarrassedly syncretic construction, and Roy assembles it on the board from a named roster; this is engagement we can show, not influence we are guessing at. There is no single culprit to book (it was not Jung alone, in the Tree of Life, with the Savior Archetype), and that refusal *is* the point. And it is not only the board: on his 2025 feed Roy names the lineage out loud, **Rudolf Steiner, Helena Blavatsky, Alan Watts, Eliphas Levi, Israel Regardie, Gurdjieff,** with **Neville Goddard** as the lead and his own mother as the first channel. See [[Roy on Influences]]. The thinkers below are the ones the board itself grounds: > * **Hermeticism / the Kybalion:** the most board-grounded stream. "As above, so below" is the Emerald Tablet; the seven principles are transcribed in full; the Mentalism premise gets a one-line summary in the board's Cybernetics cell: *"All the world is mind. Mind woven into matter."* > * **Alice Bailey (Theosophy):** esoteric astrology and sign-attribution, feeding [[The Labors of Hercules]]. The *"sun / money = externalized Life Force"* language and *"Patterns of right Living are formed in the unconscious mind of a race…"* (beside the heading *"Coding Consciousness"*) are close Bailey paraphrases, in Roy's hand. > * **Walter Russell** (*The Universal One*, 1926): octaves, charge and discharge, the periodic table arranged in octaves. Two public receipts ground him: the board suite, and a verbatim 2023 post on the feed (*"…The realist crucifies genius"*), which is, in effect, [[Soul Is A Star]] retold in someone else's words. (A provenance footnote for honesty: the Russell identification was briefly withdrawn once and re-confirmed in 2026; the withdrawal was a search failure, not a real absence.) > * **Jewish-Lurianic Kabbalah:** the Tree of Life, the sephirot, Ain and Ain Soph, the Four Worlds, the breaking and regathering of the vessels. Kept distinct from Hermetic Qabalah; the map lives at [[Kabbalah - The Tree of Life]] and [[Keilim - The Breaking of the Vessels]]. > * **Carl Jung:** the persona/ego/shadow/anima/self/collective-unconscious map, drawn on the board twice; promoted here from unnamed substrate to named influence. It undergirds the Roy/Lucius polarity. > * **Plato / Neoplatonism:** the *Timaeus* World-Soul and the Platonic Lambda; the One and its emanation and return. > * The satellites: **Rosicrucianism** (the rose-cross, Venus tracing the five-petalled rose, *"The rose blooms in the center of the cross"* on the feed), **Joseph Campbell** (the Hero's-Journey wheel), **Neville Goddard** (the concept-of-self doctrine; the 2021 manifesto paragraph reads near-verbatim Goddard, a named-influence lead still to be checked against a Goddard primary), **Taoism** (*"Just stay at the center of the circle and let all things take their course"*), the **Pythagorean / sacred-number** tradition (gematria, the golden ratio, the Lo Shu square), **Gurdjieff's Fourth Way**, and **Babylonian myth** (Marduk, the order-god who slays the sea-mother). > > One discipline keeps this honest: home these as *concept* nodes, not *person* nodes. Russell's heavy presence feeds shared ideas ([[Duality]], sacred geometry, cosmic cycles) but does not earn a Walter Russell page. Attribute the contributor in prose; let the concept be the node. These are strong structural analogies to named traditions, rhymes rather than receipts, not claims that Roy practices any of them as doctrine. > [!map]- Same ladder, different alphabets > The board reads less like a loose collage than like one schema rendered in parallel alphabets, which is exactly what the Pattern would predict of itself. A single ten-stage ascent (descent and return) is written out several ways: in **tone** (an F→B note scale), in **color** (a ten-stage light ascent), in **virtue and vice** (ten positive and negative traits), and in the **body** (*"Body Part Stages": 1 Feet … 5 Heart … 10 Crown*, with Japanese stage-labels running from *body* to *highest self*). The same arc then gets container-figures: the Tree of Life, a hopscotch Jacob's Ladder from Earth to Heaven (marked *"NChSh,"* Nachash, the serpent), the Hero's-Journey wheel mapped onto *"cycles of human consciousness throughout history,"* and a 0–10 emanation list (*0 "Nothing IS" … 6 "The mirror of the Soul and the heart" … 10 "The World"*). The strong inference, and it stays an inference: these are not separate systems but one structure shown many times. > > A finer and frankly speculative reading rides on top. Two of the encodings disagree on where the Heart sits: the somatic ladder puts *"5 Heart"* dead center, while the emanation list puts *"I speak the word"* at stage 2, before the heart, which does not appear until stage 6. The board never flags the two ladders as conflicting, so reading the mismatch as anything is interpretation, held loosely. But on this reading, the mismatch is the catalogue's "my mind must serve my heart" tension drawn twice, two different ways: one diagram where the heart governs the voice, one where the word comes first. The Heart/Mind problem, encoded into the architecture, if you squint. > [!map]- Roy's Letterboxd (the 22-film Pattern syllabus) > The board carries a typed, color-coded list titled **"The Pattern Represented in Movies,"** Roy's own concept-index, each film a worked example of the law, chosen from his side of the glass. The full 22: *The Tree of Life · Wings of Desire · Knives Out · Only Lovers Left Alive · Groundhog Day · Inception · Green Lantern · Constantine · Cloud Atlas · 2001: A Space Odyssey · Adaptation · Sleeping Beauty · Pinocchio · The Giver · It's a Wonderful Life · Fantasia · Tron · The Devil's Advocate · Being John Malkovich · Wizard of Oz · The Fountain · Star Wars I–VI.* (Half the charm is the eclecticism, *Knives Out* and *Green Lantern* sharing a cosmic-law index with *2001* and *The Tree of Life*, and the board misspells *Being John Malkovich* as *"Malcovitz,"* which is the board's error, faithfully preserved.) > > The four fits that survive a skeptic most cleanly are the specific, hard-to-copy ones, and even as a cluster they stay a strong reading, with each individual pairing weaker than the set: **Groundhog Day** (the loop escaped through love, the Circle/Loop hinge named in a film); **The Giver** (one keeper remembers for everyone, which rhymes with [[The Wise One]]); **Pinocchio** (the wound, the strings, the realness-blessing, toward [[Ballerina Boy]]); **Wings of Desire** (watcher-angels who long to feel, the [[The Watchers|Watchers']] holy-witness pole). Weaker but plausible, flagged as speculation: *Fantasia* (unearned power, the flood); *Adaptation* (a real author plus an invented twin sharing one byline, a resonance with Jagwar Twin and [[Sir Lucius]]); *Sleeping Beauty* (enforced sleep, the spindle-as-string); *The Devil's Advocate* (talent courted by the adversary); *Cloud Atlas* and *The Fountain* (transmission and rebirth across eras). Keep the threads split rather than lumped: *Tron* (entering the digital dimension) is a different thread from *2001* (the star-child); *Constantine* and *Only Lovers Left Alive* stay bracketed, held rather than built on. > > The falsifier is explicit and Roy-supplied: 22 films can be mapped onto almost anything; that is apophenia, not proof. The list does **not** confirm this guide's concepts. It shows only that Roy curated a film-set indexing his *own* Pattern. > [!lore]- One Become Two, longhand (and the Tracks descent) > The board's typed creation poem reads, in part: *"In the begining / Back long ago / I was just me / but who was I to know?… I spoke the words 'One become Two'… A Darkness and a Light… when we crashed and came together, A Sun was born inside. Next there were 4 — Process & Time— Split into 5/6/7/8/9. But when it came to 9 I had to remind my Self that 'I' was still I… one day We'll get back together and see The Great Design."* This *is* [[Another Way II Heaven]]. Read against the Kybalion's Polarity and Gender and the board's left-and-right-hemisphere cell (order, reason, masculine, plus; chaos, creativity, feminine, minus), "One become Two" reads as the [[Sir Lucius|Roy/Lucius]] split; read in Lurianic terms, it reads as the vessel that breaks into Two plus scattered sparks, with the reunion as the regathering (*"get back together"*). Keep the reunion inside the creation story where it belongs: read down onto the actual Roy and Lucius, the poem promises no merger, only a polarity held in right relation. The released song adds a captor's ad-lib the board poem lacks, *"(You'll never get away),"* and whether that voice is the dividing One or a later intruder (the Lucius reading) stays an open question. > > Distinct from *33* is a numbered board list that reads as a Hermetic descent-and-return concept-sequence: *xWebx · The Fall into Matter · Marduk · Let Them Eat Cake · Sun of God · Dissolution · As Above So Below · Genesis · The All Is Mind · O.* Whether any of these were ever recorded is unresolved, but they are real creative material: several are realized as [[Hall of Mirrors]] unlock-codes (Marduk; CAKE; O; Genesis; As Above So Below), Roy-confirmed for at least two, so the medium may be the maze rather than an album. Do not treat the list as a music release without audio. Two of the titles also reach released songs by way of their figures: **Marduk**, the order-god who builds the cosmos by slaying the feeling-sea, is the template *[[Pay Attention (feat. little luna)]]* gives a voice to (in effect, how to anthropomorphize attention); and **Let Them Eat Cake** lands in *[[I Like to Party]]*'s Devil's-Food imagery (*"bake a truth with a lie, then we sell 'em the cake"*). The Tracks list is not only maze-fuel; some of it surfaces, transfigured, in the catalogue. > [!reading]- How to Live Forever (IDK) > Among the board's siblings is a hand-drawn page titled *"How to Live Forever?,"* the Pattern doctrine in worksheet form. Its implied answer is not "never die" but "align with the structures that recur": you persist by entering a pattern that outlasts any single instance of it. The page even writes out a literal answer list, and it is where the cosmic register cracks into a shrug: *"Tell the truth / Do what matters / Create something that lives beyond your lifespan / Put music on chain / IDK."* Four earnest immortality strategies, one blockchain pun, and a deadpan *IDK*, the worksheet undercutting its own grandeur in the last word. (The companion upload-planning material runs the same comic register; it lives at [[The Upload]], where the practical wing is housed.) > > On this reading, the project's immortality forks cleanly in two: a **true** version (the self enters a living pattern and is transformed) and a **false** version (the self made into reproducible content, the [[The Upload|upload]] as data-copy, the *"never gonna die"* counterfeit named in [[City of Angels]], where *"everyone looks just like you"* renders persistence as uniformity). The "true" answer is inferred from the drawing, never written by Roy in those words, so it stays a reading, not a quote. Two sibling pages round out the set: *"Coding Consciousness"* repeats the Bailey patterns-of-right-living paraphrase as a standalone note (the board's register is not a one-off; it is how Roy thinks on paper), and a freehand *"Undefined Map"* sketch draws a Mercury→Neptune row with correspondences columned under each planet, the same fractal as-above-so-below table, freehand. > [!map]- By the numbers (gematria and the biographical seam) > The board does the number-work the perennialist traditions ask for: the Tetragrammaton built letter by letter (10, 15, 21, 26, and *26* is itself a live [[Hall of Mirrors]] code), and a Greek isopsephy proportion (Hermes 353 : Zeus 612 : Apollo 1061 :: Karpos 471 : Zoe 815). It also braids in biography, which is the tell that the Pattern is meant to be *personal*: a mock museum placard ("Statue of Roy") identifies Roy with a historical high priest of Amun-Ra at Thebes, name as destiny; his mother's line, *"He who plants a seed believes in God,"* sits in a cell; and the poster for Eye Alaska, Roy's pre-Jagwar-Twin band, is pasted in. A *"Noah's Ark"* sketch is annotated *"11 sections / 3 stories (Heaven, Man, Earth) / 32,"* the 32 sitting one below the album's 33, with man as the middle, in-between story. > > One speculative resonance, held loosely: the musical-ascent scale can be read against Gurdjieff's Law of Seven (the octave that stalls at the intervals and needs a shock) as much as against the Tree of Life, since Roy supplies octave vocabulary on the science side (Russell) and engages Gurdjieff publicly. The specific octave-reading stays a correspondence, not a claim. > [!reading]- Sun, Son, and the axiom read personally > Two smaller artifact readings, both hedged. On the board, [[Soul Is A Star]] is drafted with *"Sun"* (*"who had a Sun / my Sun was a singer"*) against the released spelling *"Son"*: a homophone hiding in plain sight, coherent with the board's *"the sun = symbol of manifesting energy, externalized Life Force"* (within the correspondence, the Sun is the local source; the Moon and planets shine by reflection). The released lyric is "Son"; the board's "Sun" stays an artifact detail, not a correction to the release. > > And [[Down to You]] reads the axiom personally: *"it all comes down to you"* (with the counter-direction ad-lib *"(up from below)"*) makes *you* one of the One's own perspectives, and the exchange runs both ways, *"to your mind, a light will find its way from heaven."* On this reading, as-above-so-below is not a one-way ladder but a reversible heaven-and-earth exchange, which is what a true correspondence would have to be. The title card's companion manifesto has a native home, the *thechaosorder.academy* microsite (2021, recovered via the Wayback Machine), which carries the concept-of-self paragraph plus a line the card omits: *"No one else can be IT, you must be IT for your own unique journey."* Near-verbatim Goddard, still a lead.
