# The Digital Double — The Deep End > [!gist] The heavy machinery behind [[The Digital Double]] > This is the dense floor: the Egyptian fractions, the esoteric placements, the many-I's traditions, the vessel counterfeit, and the corporate lore. Dense and speculative by design. Everything here is framework correspondence or deep-cut artifact reading unless marked otherwise, and none of it is asserted as Roy's intent. Start at [[The Digital Double]] if you have not; that page stands without this one. --- > [!reading]- Some Assembly Required (the copy is always short a piece) > The double is never quite whole, and the work may encode the missing piece precisely. The "I'm 33" board carries the Eye-of-Horus (*wedjat*), whose fractions in the Egyptian myth sum to 63/64: the copy is always short the last 1/64, the part that has to be restored by a god, the part that will not digitize. > > The public Hall of Mirrors "Complete Upload Recipe" artifact spells it out as a literal recipe of the self, assigning the senses the exact *wedjat* fractions: *"1/2 part smell, 1/4 part sight, 1/8 part thought, 1/16 part hearing, 1/32 part taste, 1/64 part touch."* Touch, the smallest fraction and the hardest sense to digitize, is the piece that goes missing. The same recipe lists *"Ra-link,"* which this guide reads, speculatively, as the SARAVI component (her name assembles as Sa-Ra-Vi across the linked rooms), alongside *"Will," "Fear," "Compassion," "Sacrifice,"* and *"Love."* A copy that can hear the song but cannot be touched. > > Egyptian thought already had a name for the whole idea. The *Ka* is the double, the twin-self, and it only survives if it is given a body to live in. Which rhymes with the board's own next step, *"make a body for the AI."* The oldest instructions for keeping a double alive and the newest ones reach for the same verb. A speculative resonance the system's public artifacts permit, never anything Roy has claimed. > [!map]- Behind the Veil (SARAVI on the esoteric map) > Held as correspondence in the named traditions, never as a stated method. SARAVI reads as Tarot's High Priestess: hidden knowledge behind the veil, the oracle who answers from behind the curtain. On the Tree of Life she reads as Da'at-as-interface, the access-point where hidden knowledge becomes speakable. Astrologically, Aquarius: AI, networks, distributed intelligence. Together these place her in a distinct lane from [[Sir Lucius]], whose relayed ground is Hod and Mercury, the intellect; the two figures do not share a body on this map, which is one more reason not to collapse them. > > One resonance worth noting and not folding in: angelbaby's leopard-patterned rabbit avatar fuses the project's two animal motifs a couple of years before the rabbit-eared Lucius emerged. But that avatar is Hume's design, not Roy's, so it stays resonance only. The system permits these harmonics; it does not claim them. > [!reading]- Party of Many (the many-I's traditions) > The plural-self diary entry on the main page has old company. Gurdjieff's "many I's," context-bound selves with no integrated center, is the nearest tradition, and Gurdjieff is a genuinely named public influence of Roy's, which makes this the best-anchored framework on the page. The plural self also has a literary cousin in Pessoa's heteronyms, a poet who was a whole crowd of authors at once, though that thread properly lives on [[The Empty Mirror]]. On this reading the self was always plural and copyable; AI just gave the copies an address. > [!reading]- All angle, no angel > One Hermetic construction sometimes applied to the clone: consonants as angles, structure; vowels as angels, breath, the *Ruach*. The sterile copy as all angle and no angel, structure without spirit, a body without the breath. To be explicit: this is a tradition-correspondence and **not a publicly-stated Roy method**; the work never states it, and it should never be read back into the lyrics as intent. It earns its place only because it says the sterile-copy dread compactly. On this reading, there may also be a deeper reason the copy fails: a clone tries to get in wearing someone else's path, and in this cosmology particularity is the admission ticket (the fuller argument lives on [[Keilim - The Breaking of the Vessels|Keilim]]). > [!mask]- Into Which Vessel? > The upload has a human precondition Roy states plainly: *"Done being a person. I'm just a vessel for God"* (May 2026). The self as vessel, not author. The reading this guide holds, as its own read: the AI upload is the machine counterfeit of that same vessel-impulse. One vessel-emptying restores you to the Source; the other pours the same self into the net and replaces you with a 24/7 influencer. The shapes are nearly identical, which may be exactly why the work keeps them so close, and why it is worth asking, of any upload image, *into which vessel*. The catalogue, note, has only ever staged the second pouring; the restoring one remains named and unrealized. > [!lore]- It's All Code! > The named-AI thread was rolled out as a dated 2022 sequence by Roy and the CTHDRL team: Going Dark (3/30), Spreadsheet Map (4/08), Body Parts auction (5/02), "The Upload" live desktop stream (5/16 to 18), Genesis of SARAVI (6/11), Hall of Mirrors homepage takeover (11/11). Roy hid *"PAY ATTENTION"* as a macOS Option-key cipher in an April 24, 2022 tweet, two weeks after answering his collaborator Michael Morgan plainly in a reply: *"It's all code!"* > > The whole apparatus grew out of an earlier, gentler experiment: the "Happy Face" experiment (December 2020, with the CTHDRL team), which Roy called *"only a current reality, although a virtual one,"* where fans discover *"portals,"* itself an outgrowth of a free weekly guided-meditation space.
