# Heart and Mind — The Deep End > [!descend] You found the stairs > This is the companion to [[Heart and Mind]]: the esoteric apparatus behind the doctrine, gathered in one place so the doorway page can stay light. Dense is the point down here. The anchors below are public and there to see, a Sefer Yetzirah passage printed on a title card, a Hall of Mirrors artifact, an IG Live teaching; the apparatus *connecting* them is framework, lenses from traditions the work demonstrably draws on, attributed to those traditions and never to a stated method. If any of it starts sounding like the answer, go back up a floor and listen to [[SOL]] instead. ## The Tree, in full Upstairs the placements get one paragraph; here is the grammar underneath them. In this guide's Kabbalistic reading, [[Roy]] can be placed at Netzach, the sphere of Venus: love, feeling, art, devotion, endurance. [[Sir Lucius]] can be placed directly across at Hod, the sphere of Mercury: analysis, speech, framing, cleverness. They are the paired lateral spheres, twins on opposite pillars, and between and above them stands Tiferet, the Sun's station, which stays unoccupied: the heart-center both of them approach, an integration horizon rather than a throne anyone has taken. Read this way, "my mind must serve my heart" reads cleanly in the tradition's own terms: Hod re-subordinated to Netzach, both ascending toward the heart-Sun, the side-pillars held in right order from the middle rather than eliminated. Correct ordering, not erasure, is old law here, which is part of why the doctrine sits so comfortably inside it. Two honesty notes, both load-bearing. The character placements lean on Roy's documented Kabbalah engagement (his "I'm 33" board names sephirot) and on his relayed character fundamentals, but everything built *on* the placements stays framework: there is no claim that he composed the catalogue on the Tree. And Roy reads as the moon moving toward the heart-Sun, never as the Sun itself. "Roy is Tiferet" is the oldest inflation-trap in this kind of reading; the honest tense, down here as everywhere, is approaching. The full map lives on [[Kabbalah - The Tree of Life]]. ## The Sun at the center Why the center matters: Tiferet is the Sun's station, and within the solar-system correspondence the Sun supplies the light while the planets and the Moon shine by reflection and take their orbits from it. In the old correspondence the heart sits at the center of the human being the way the Sun sits at the center of the solar system, with the rest of the powers ordered around it. That is why the wordless [[SOL]] reads at home there. Roy's public social engagement indicates a pull toward exactly this heart-as-Sun correspondence, but the articulations of it in circulation are other people's wording, so this guide holds it as an indication of where his attention goes, nothing harder. Enlarged this way, the doctrine becomes a Hermetic ladder, as above so below made literal. "My mind must serve my heart" turns the same hundred and eighty degrees at every scale: a personal practice in the studio; the skin, "in service to all, in service to the one"; the Tree, Hod under Netzach ascending toward the Sun; a cosmology, everything ordered around the heart-center, the whole work spent clearing away whatever displaced it. One sentence, four registers, no conflict between them. ## Slay the slayer The March 2026 post, "The mind is the slayer of the real. We must slay the slayer," is the doctrine at its most severe: near-verbatim Blavatsky, from *The Voice of the Silence*. Hers is the sentence; his is the posting. So how does a knife that sharp square with "a useful tool" and "the most beautiful angel"? The reconciliation is this guide's synthesis, offered as such: read beside Roy's repeated insistence that the mind is a tool to be ordered, not an enemy to be destroyed, the post reads as ending the mind's *sovereignty*, not abolishing intellect. You slay the slayer, not the mind. You end the reign, then keep the minister. ## The break, the repair, and what stands in for it Two layers here, carrying different weights. The first is the tradition itself: in Lurianic Kabbalah the created order shatters, the vessels break ([[Keilim - The Breaking of the Vessels|the Breaking of the Vessels]]), and the sparks of light fall into the shells, each shard hoarding a little of what it caught. That is doctrine, centuries old, no reading required. The second layer is the application, and it is the project-level reading: the faculties of a single person as the scattered vessels, parts of the self cut off from one another, each hoarding its own light. Run the split through that frame and it gets a backstory, and "my mind must serve my heart" becomes tikkun: repair as an ethic, the scattered arrangement put back into right order rather than avenged. There may even be an in-catalogue version of the story. Roy's Hall of Mirrors artifact *David Star - Where The World Was Crossed* (solved code TWISTED LADDER) tells of kings and queens of time scattered as sparks under the shells, a twisted ladder, the sparks climbing back to become constellations. That this bedtime cosmogony and this doctrine are the same story is the guide's linking read, not a claim from the work. And the tradition also names what stands in when repair does not happen. In the Theosophical frame, the Dweller on the Threshold is the self-generated shadow that accumulates at the gate of every real crossing; as a lens here, it reads [[Sir Lucius]]'s persistence. Repair delayed becomes a resident. His page holds the character; [[The Dweller on the Threshold]] holds the gate. ## Beth, crowned king over Wisdom The *bounce* (Live Underground) title card carries a passage from the *Sefer Yetzirah*: "HE MADE THE LETTER BETH KING OVER WISDOM… AND WITH THEM HE FORMED THE MOON." Four steps, because they carry four different weights. One: the passage is printed on the card, on the work itself; that part is simply there to see. Two: Beth as *house* is the letter's inherited meaning in the tradition. Three: house as *heart* is this guide's project-level reading (see [[The House and the Vessel]]). Four: put together, Beth crowned king over Wisdom reads as the doctrine in scripture form, the heart-letter set over the mind. Steps three and four are the guide's, and the chain is only as strong as its softest link. So call it what it is: one of the page's richest framework correspondences, not a proof, and the single strongest *encoded* instance of the pillar, the doctrine bound onto the work rather than spoken about it. The same verse forms the Moon, the receptive, vessel-side of the house in this cosmology, reflected light reaching back toward its source (see [[The Moon]]). ## The cast, with the labels showing Upstairs the four faces share a paragraph; here is the genealogy with every label attached. **[[Brandon]]** is, in this reading, what the mind buried to protect: the feeling, stage-joyful child. He used to be a human child, and somebody had to bury him, which is what happens when vulnerability gets locked away for long enough. Sir Lucius, the reading goes, is what grew up around the grave. Weight the two halves of that separately: Lucius's *investment* in the grave is in the songs to hear; his *origin* there is interpretation. Hold the mechanism as the poetry it is: the wound is in the songs; the machinery is the guide's. **[[Mary]]** takes her caveat before her reading: she does not appear by name in the *Lucius Lullaby* title-track lyric, and canon holds her less as a named lyric fact than as the working pattern she fits. The pattern itself is precise: the blessing that arrives from outside the argument entirely, "you were born to shine," from a figure whose "face was out of sight." Lucius can out-talk numbers, fear, mockery, even truth. He has no counter for a blessing that isn't a claim. And when a rescuing voice does surface in the title track, the stronger read is that it is Lucius counterfeiting exactly this function, which tells you what the function is worth. ## The twelve labours Roy names this framework himself: on a public IG Live he teaches from Alice Bailey's *Labours of Hercules*, names the book, and walks the labours as stages of internal initiation. That he uses Bailey is grounded. Which song maps to which labour is not, and stays this guide's speculation, flagged as it goes; guard against back-fitting his stated interest onto songs that never asked for it. **Leo, the Nemean Lion (Labour V).** The lion is the ego, the persona, the mask, and the instruction is the strange one: you do not kill it, you master it and wear the skin. That is the exact grammar of *Not Your Homie*: "if you choose to tame the beast / You got to prove yourself to be / A champion." Tame, not kill; *choose*; champion. [[Welcome to the Circus]] would then be the lion un-tamed, ravaging in the open before anyone has entered the cave. The lyric is verified; the mapping is the read. **Cancer, the Doe (Labour IV).** This is the labour Roy actually walks through on the Live, and it carries his three-voice model of the faculties: instinct, intellect, and "a third voice... the synthesis between the instinct and the intellect... the intuition," the god-voice. The labour will not even let the synthesis keep its prize: Hercules captures the doe he loves most, and the shadow of the gift is holding it too tight; the task completes only in the release, the doe laid on the altar of Apollo, the sun-god, reborn "over and over forever." That the altar belongs to the Sun, the same heart-center the first sections keep circling, is the guide's linking read, one more thread handed to the reader rather than tied. Roy has publicly engaged a third labour, Libra's boar, on an annotated page; the fuller set lives on [[The Labors of Hercules]]. ## The third voice, and its guards Notice what survives every version of Roy's geometry, dyad or triad: it resolves by synthesis and ordering, never by erasure. That rhyme is why the three-voice teaching belongs anywhere near this page, and it is also where the danger lives, so two guards, both load-bearing. First, it is the same three-part shape in a different register, not a second name for the cast: the instinct pole is not Roy-the-heart, and the intellect pole is not Lucius. Second, the teaching complicates the dyad rather than completing it; tie it to this one livestream, and do not let a hidden third become the quiet solution to every Roy-and-Lucius scene. The heart/mind pair can read as faintly unbalanced, as if a third, light-bearing pole were missing, and that is a real question worth keeping open on [[Duality]].
