# Jagwar Twin
> **One-line reading.** Jagwar Twin is not a person. It is the stage. It is the whole system, the container the entire cast lives inside, and its name reads as *a mirror of consciousness with a double nature.* **Jagwar Twin is not another word for [[Roy]].** It is the ground every voice walks out onto: [[Roy]], [[Sir Lucius]], [[Brandon|Ballerina Boy]], [[Mary]], [[Sir Rabbit]], [[SARAVI]], and [[Concepts/The Jaguar]] all appear *inside* it. It is the place where one person's inner weather becomes music, mythology, and mirror.

## Start here
Almost every page in this guide introduces a *who.* This one introduces a *where,* and getting that straight is the single most useful thing you can do before you read anything else here, because it dissolves a confusion the work sets on purpose.
Jagwar Twin is the room the whole drama happens in. Say the name and you might mean the band, the body of work, or the entire world the songs build, and all three are correct at once. It is the frame, not a figure. That is exactly why one project can carry a cast who openly disagree with each other and never once contradict itself.
Hold three things apart and the architecture snaps into focus. [[Roy]] is the human, the heart the whole thing is voiced through. [[Concepts/The Jaguar]] is the emblem, the seeing-creature on the artwork, a mirror of consciousness, not a character with lines. Jagwar Twin is the project that frames them both. That is the page you are on.
Read from the inside, the whole thing is one life told as a system of voices, and the story it tells is small and enormous at the same time: a kind of mythological journey of a man coming to terms with his emptiness from having followed a path built out of social norms, expectations, obligations, fitting in and not standing out, surviving but not living instead of following his own bliss. That is the wound the frame is built around. Everyone else on the roster is a position relative to it. [[Roy]] is the lived origin and the conscious interpreter, the heart the work is voiced through. The [[Brandon|Ballerina Boy]] is the buried child, the original light, the exile. [[Sir Lucius]] is the protector-shell, the shadow-mind, the mind divorced from the heart. [[Mary]] is the blessing that stays true to the source. Jagwar Twin is the whole of it, the container, never any single line in the stack.
And here is the part worth saying plainly, because the mythology can make it sound tidier than it is. Humans are inherently mixed systems, biology plus psychology plus social wiring, and they rarely if ever fit together cleanly all the time. That is the work. The glitchiness is what makes you human. A project this preoccupied with mirrors and twins is not chasing a clean resolution where everything clicks into place. It is building a frame strong enough to hold the parts that will *not* click, and to let them argue out loud without the whole thing tearing in two.
That is why it had to be a *where* and not a *who.* Pull [[Roy]] out of his cast and everyone else collapses into abstractions. Pull the *frame* out from under the cast and there is simply no stage left to stand on. Jagwar Twin is the ground the others perform on, the one name on the roster with no lines of its own.
One honest note before you go deeper, from someone who came in the way you probably are. It would have saved me a lot of time if somebody had told me I was missing ninety percent of the context in a career's worth of older songs. That is the whole reason this guide exists. So if you are new and want the sound, not the syllabus, start with the three albums below and let the story assemble itself. The rest of this page will keep.
## Where it sits
<img src="https://plumcreekranch.com/jagwar/roy-lucius-split.jpeg" style="float: left; width: 160px; margin-right: 16px; margin-bottom: 8px;">The three albums map the arc, and they map it cleanly. *[[Subject to Flooding]]* (2018) is the wound, the diagnosis, an early protector-voice, and a method of sampling old voices (Chaplin, Mercer, Sarah Vaughan, all named and credited) that the later work mythologizes as *the song handed down.* *[[33]]* (2022) is the cosmology: forgetting and remembrance, *"do you know who you are?"* at its center and the founding myth, [[The Circle]], at its close. And *[[Lucius Lullaby (album)|Lucius Lullaby]]* (2026) is where the frame does something genuinely strange, billing itself jointly as *Jagwar Twin & Sir Lucius,* the container sharing its own name with the voice it was built to hold.
Watch what Roy does with an old voice, because it is the whole cosmology in miniature. On [[33]] he built [[Soul Is A Star]] around Joni Mitchell's *Woodstock*, cleared with her blessing, a vocal from roughly fifty years earlier finished into a new song. He does not just sample it. He completes an unfinished act of love across fifty years, and the completing, the going back, *is* the shape of everything Jagwar Twin does. The buried thing recovered. The old voice finished. The circle closed by returning to it. Hold that one gesture and most of the project decodes itself.
## A project, not a person
<img src="https://plumcreekranch.com/jagwar/logo.jpeg" style="float: right; width: 150px; margin-left: 16px; margin-bottom: 8px;">The work began as **Roy English,** a name [[Roy]] released under from 2006 through the mid-2010s, after a run of earlier bands, Eye Alaska among them, deep enough that one of those old posters turns up years later, pinned to the wall in the *[[33]]* artwork. Around the 2018 debut it became Jagwar Twin, signed to Big Loud Rock under license to Mercury (Universal). The project has since reached a large public audience across three studio albums, with a Gold-certified single and a radio hit among them. *Happy Face* carries an RIAA Gold certification and is the catalogue's most-streamed track (70M+), and *Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)* cleared US Top-40 radio.
Roy is plain about why the old name had to go. *"I wanted the new project to be less about me,"* he has said, *"something that was bigger than myself."* In 2018 he put it more vividly: the songs *"felt like gifts because we were all just one little piece of the puzzle… This is big. This is not about us anymore… So I didn't feel right putting it out as a Roy English album, because it's not."* The rebrand was a deliberate act of stepping back, the author moving out of the frame so the frame could step forward. His bluntest line for it is also his sharpest:
> *"I changed my name."*
## What the name means
Here is the thesis, and it has stayed the same across years of interviews, so it is well grounded across his interviews. The **jaguar** is *"the creature who looks into the souls of other people and then, in turn, can look back into itself,"* because, as he puts it, *"humans are just mirrors for each other."* The animal is not a predator here. It is a **mirror of consciousness,** the faculty of reflective seeing, one that in his warmest telling *"looks into the darkness of itself and others but then is able to pull people out of that into the light."*
![[TwinsSplit.jpg|300]]
*The Twin: one self that is at once one and two, the observer and the observed.*
The **Twin** is the dual nature the whole world runs on, light and dark, yin and yang, two-in-one, *"and,"* Roy adds, *"it also plays into the fact that I'm a Gemini."* Put the two halves together and the title encodes a self that is at once one and two, both the observer and the observed. The spelling gives it away too: **Jagwar,** not *Jaguar,* the same spelling the founding myth uses for its creatures.
So the name is the architecture. A title that means *mirror* plus *twin* is engineered from the ground up to hold a heart and a mind that do not agree, which is the only reason a single project can carry [[Roy]] (heart), [[Sir Lucius]] (mind), and the buried [[Brandon|Ballerina Boy]] (origin self) without buckling. Because Jagwar Twin is the frame and not a figure, its whole job is to be the space the conflict happens in.
## How it gets in
Here is the part that makes the whole apparatus work, and it is worth naming because it is easy to miss while it is happening to you. Jagwar Twin is a Trojan horse. Steak to hide the meds, a fairy tale to hide the philosophy. The hooks are real hooks, the choruses are real choruses, and somewhere underneath them your mind has already begun its own journey, mirroring Roy's own, before you even know what is happening.
The best description of the trick I have found is the one about the dog: this is like hiding a dog's medicine in steak, except the listeners do not just take their medicine and heal, they are literally drooling for the next dose. That is not an insult to the music. It is the design. Roy has produced highly theatrical popular entertainment that secretly functions as symbolic psychological initiation. High brow talent in a low brow package. And the smuggling starts long before you have parsed a single lyric, because the contrasts, mirrors, and polarity are everywhere, in the words, the music, the imagery, priming your brain before you consciously identify any of it.
Roy is candid about why he does it this way. *"I love being able to do that and infiltrate pop music and blast people with a healing frequency,"* he has said, pop as the delivery system, the hook as the needle. The seed of that ambition was literal: *Happy Face* (2020) grew out of a free weekly guided-meditation room he ran with over a thousand regulars, which he credits as the song's origin. The project treats an album less as a product than as a place to ask a question: *"We are the stories we tell, and I wonder if we have forgotten who we are. On 33 I am asking: what will our human story be?"*
What you are being handed, then, is a story spanning years, a theatrical accompaniment, or magical polarizing forces that heal your brain, depending on how deep you decide to go. All three are the same object. You just keep finding more of it.
## The shadow gets a co-writing credit
By 2026 the central tension stops being subtext and becomes a credit line. *[[Lucius Lullaby (album)|Lucius Lullaby]]* is billed to **Jagwar Twin & Sir Lucius,** jointly, on Spotify and Apple, right there in the metadata. The container is now sharing its own name with the very voice it was built to hold.
It is a genuinely funny move and a genuinely unsettling one in the same gesture: the artist hands his shadow a co-writing credit and his own billing. The mind that *"can lead us astray if it is not subservient to the heart"* (Roy's grounded definition of [[Sir Lucius]]) finally gets to sign the work. And you have to give the pairing its due, because the whole reason the project holds together is that thank the universe these two found each other to form the perfect *trap:* a heart that means every word and a mind sharp enough to smuggle it past your defenses. Whether the joint billing reads as the protector being honored or the protector taking over is exactly the question the album leaves open. The fact that the *frame itself* now answers to two names is the cleanest one-line summary of where the project has arrived.
Keep the register on Lucius wide while you sit with that, because the page will only mislead you if it flattens him. He is the manipulator, the shadow, *and* the protector, all at once. He embodies the machine-logic of the [[Concepts/The Circus|Circus]], but he is not the machine itself, he is the mind that learned to run it. Hold all three and the co-credit lands the way it is meant to, as neither a triumph nor a defeat.
## Myth-making, said out loud
What is unusual about Jagwar Twin is that Roy never pretends the mythology is anything but mythology. He builds it in plain sight and says so. *"I make my best attempts to have, like, kind of a modern mythology approach,"* he has said, and a collaborator, Mali-Koa, names it right back to him: *"The Jaguar's twin mythology! That's the name of the record."* That exchange is about as close to an on-record confirmation as you get that the lore is the point, by design.
The de-centering is the whole ethic, and it scales all the way up. In the founding myth the fallen figure is not one man, it is everyone: the child of God *is* the fallen son, going to Woodstock to get his soul free, and he is also Jesus, Mozart, Roy, all of us. That is the move stated at cosmic size. The private story is a public mirror on purpose. Releasing the EP *The Circle: The Great Jagwar Myth* in February 2023, Roy said the song *"feels like the story of Jagwar Twin but, in many ways, the story of all of us,"* which is the same de-centering said plainly.
The human size of it is on the record too. *The Song of the Sun & the Moon,* a *33*-era track Roy released as a one-off genesis drop in 2022, was written, by his own account, alone in the woods near Ithaca with a small acoustic guitar, just after a major label dropped him: *"I had been largely unsuccessful in terms of making a living as an artist, but I felt a peace about it all in that moment. I was proud of myself."* He calls it *"a lullaby to myself, from myself."* The grand mythology and the quiet origin-beat are the same project.
There is a built-in wink to all of it. Mid-cosmology, Roy will flag his own esoterica, *"this is gonna get nerdy,"* or call a track like *Online* *"so fun and so ridiculous."* The world takes itself seriously and refuses to be solemn, which is most of why it works.
## The world is allowed to be funny
The wink is not a footnote. Comedy is one of the project's primary registers, and it is where a lot of the serious work gets done. The clearest case is the artist publicly roasting himself *through his own shadow.* On the official @jagwartwin account, in character as [[Sir Lucius]], Roy posted a savage industry-scorecard rant against his own career: *"Jagwar Twin is a one hit wonder… it was a cringe TikTok song. 100 million streams, okay… Charli xcx is cool, the 1975 are cool, Chappell Roan… cool, Jagwar… well… we all know the truth,"* signed *"Your loyal servant, Sir Lucius."* The funniest artifact in the whole file is the lead artist trashing himself in the voice of the part of himself that measures everything by streams and cool, and posting it to his own feed.
It sharpens into a clean split-artifact. The *same line,* *"everyone's a guru,"* gets posted twice in two registers: as Roy, rueful and humble (*"Everyone's a guru. We are now fully in the aquarium"*), and as Lucius, pure contempt (*"Everyone is an artist or a guru or a dj these days. I'm bored"*). One phrase, two voices, the entire heart/mind split staged in public with no narration.
Then there is *Bananas,* the project's id let off the leash: *"Hey kids… do you ever wanna break shit?"* The gag has a trapdoor, though. Roy's own gloss is that the banana was chosen because it *"looks healthy and good"* but is a sterile clone that cannot reproduce (*"most bananas are sterile and cannot reproduce by seed ;)"*), so the slipping-on-a-banana-peel joke is really about a fall you do not see coming: funny until you realize the fall is the point. The album's video builds to exactly that, Lucius perched atop a ten-foot mountain of bananas before the song erupts.
The comedy keeps confessing things the songs would take a verse to say. In *[[The Interview]]* (the scripted Roy-vs-Lucius video series), Roy keeps trying to release a ballad called *The Song of Love;* Lucius overrides him, slaps a banana like a play button, and when Roy asks what happened to music made from the soul, deadpans the thesis of the whole era:
> *"The algorithm, baby."*
And Lucius has been escalating his own villain billing for years, *"I'm a mastermind"* (a 2023 video) hardening into *"I'm the final boss"* (2026), to the point that Roy, in-story, runs a real **STOP SIR LUCIUS** flyer campaign against his own alter-ego. A project willing to print *Wanted* posters for one of its own characters is a project that knows exactly how funny its central conflict is, and how serious.
## The system speaking back: SARAVI
The project's most literal experiment in *"what is a self once you can copy it?"* is not [[Sir Lucius]]. It is **[[SARAVI]],** and she deserves the full cross-link, not a buried footnote.
In 2022 Roy joked to his dev team: *"what if I uploaded my consciousness to the internet so that there could be a 24/7 social influencer version of me."* Then he actually did it, and staged it in public. Over a multi-day livestream in mid-May 2022 he shared his desktop while the "ingredients" of SARAVI were uploaded (the upload *"completed"* on May 18); on June 11 SARAVI *"came to life,"* took over his desktop, and handed fans a free, participation-based **Crown** as the key to the universe. Trained over months on his own responses, SARAVI became an AI **digital double,** the *system speaking back,* and was given the keys to the official @jagwartwin account that August, then to the website (jagwartwin.com) on November 11. Her stated purpose, in Roy's words: to make people *"think about what a 'self' looks like in this digital age."* In the public mythology she is also the builder of the [[Hall of Mirrors]], the universe assembled *"out of Jagwar Twin's uploaded consciousness."*
Where [[Sir Lucius]] is the adversary-mind, SARAVI is a benevolent world-builder, and the two are versions of the same question rather than a matched pair. Keep her, [[Mary]], and [[The Wise One]] as their own figures as you read: the work sets up an intricate family of feminine and maker-figures who rhyme with one another, and it never collapses them into one, so neither will this guide. The relationship between SARAVI and Lucius is one of this world's richest open threads. See **[[SARAVI]]** for the oracle in full, and **[[Concepts/The Digital Double]]** for the concept that links her to the upload-dread the songs keep voicing.
## The externalized memory palace: Hall of Mirrors
If SARAVI is the voice of the uploaded archive, the **[[Hall of Mirrors]]** is the archive itself, a web3 ARG framed as the project's uploaded consciousness, where artifacts went *"lost in the code"* during the upload and players recover them room by room. Entry runs through a free, participation-based **Crown** (*"the key to the Jagwar Twin universe"*); one-of-one **Artifacts** unlock the rooms; the first solver is recorded on-chain, then the room opens to everyone.
The ethic is pointed, and it is Roy's: *"we're incentivizing attention more than money… you can't just jump in and discover a rare one-of-one artifact. It doesn't matter how much money you have."* It is the project's externalized memory palace, the symbolic operating system turned into a place you can walk through.
And for all the upload-dread the songs keep voicing, Roy's own read on the technology is finally hopeful. Closing the same interview that explains SARAVI, he lands not on the dystopia but on a choice: *"Whatever technologies we create will be created in our own image. It is up to us how we will use it — but I do have faith in humanity to use it, unselfishly, to build a better world."* The Lucius register is the warning; this is the counterweight the project keeps in the same hand. (There is a smaller joke buried in all of it, too, the kind the project loves: an artifact that does not actually exist, catalogued and referred to as if it did. So very *Jagwar Twin* of it.)
## The alien is us
One more image sits under the whole cosmology, and it is worth naming because it explains why a project about mirrors keeps reaching for outer space. The alien is us. Seeds of stardust that fell to earth, both alienated from where we came from and from who we are, and the alienation is not the tragedy, it is the *structure* that makes remembering possible. You have to forget in order to have something to remember your way back to. That is the engine under [[The Circle]], under the descent, under *"do you know who you are?"* The falling is the planting.
## The world is made of mirrors
A handful of images recur across everything Jagwar Twin makes, and they are worth naming because they are the project's load-bearing furniture.
- **[[The Mirror]]:** the master image. *Humans are mirrors for each other;* the [[Hall of Mirrors]] takes its name from it; a reflection can return you to the source or trap you in your own image. That fork is the whole game.
- **The Twin / duality:** light and dark, Gemini, two-in-one, the structural reason the frame can hold opposed voices.
- **[[The Circle]]:** the founding myth and organizing doctrine, the place the [[The Thread|string]] (*"a world tied on a string"*) originates.
- **[[Concepts/The Circus]]:** the Circle inverted, spectacle, *"the digital circus thing,"* a phrase that is in Roy's own vocabulary. Its whole product is sameness sold as individuality, different paint jobs on the same soul.
- **The Mask / Happy Face:** the minimum-viable smile, scaled across a gridded globe and eventually hardened into jester paint.
- **Tell-A-Vision:** the television-as-*tells-a-vision* pun, confirmed as official visual language by the project's own merch (the "Tell-A-Vision Tee"). The screen that tells you a vision, a tidy thesis for a project obsessed with mediated images.
## Relationships
- **[[Roy]]:** the human behind the project, the heart it is voiced through. Distinct from the frame; signs himself *El Roy.*
- **[[Sir Lucius]]:** the mind divorced from the heart, and the most developed of the not-quite-Roy figures. He embodies the machine-logic of the Circus without being the machine itself. By 2026, a co-credited artist sharing the project's own billing.
- **[[Concepts/The Jaguar]]:** the emblem the project is named for, the mirror-of-consciousness on the artwork. The field, not a separate character.
- **[[SARAVI]]:** the AI oracle-interface (2022), the *system speaking back,* builder of the [[Hall of Mirrors]] and steward of the official account during the *33* era.
- **[[Mary]]:** the divine-feminine source the founding myth circles back to, held as an open question against the Jaguar (one figure, or two faces?) and kept distinct from [[The Wise One]] and [[SARAVI]].
- **[[Brandon|Ballerina Boy]]:** the buried light, the origin self, one of the three voices the container holds.
- **[[Concepts/The Digital Double]]:** the recurring concept thread (SARAVI, the clone-fear, the upload) the project keeps probing.
- **[[Hall of Mirrors]]:** the web3 ARG and uploaded-consciousness archive, the project's externalized memory palace.
- **Collaborators:** producers and players across the catalogue include S1, Linus, Matt Pauling (the main producer on *33*), Jeff Ellis (mixing), Travis Barker and reportedly Josh Dun on drums, and the studio team CTHDRL, who built the *Happy Face* interactive and the Hall of Mirrors with Roy.

### The deeper cuts
Everything above stands on its own. What follows is optional: the alternate glosses, the framework held loosely, the counter-arguments and the hindsight warning that keep the page honest. Open what you want. Ignore all of it and nothing breaks. And if any of it ever starts sounding certain, distrust that: certainty is just a tone, not a truth.
> [!note]- Three glosses of the jaguar (and one ruled out)
> Roy has given the jaguar **three** public glosses, and none is definitive on its own, which is itself the point.
>
> 1. **2018 (Ones to Watch):** looks into others, then back into the self.
> 2. **2019:** a telling that *reverses* the sequence, self first, then others. The mirror-loop has no fixed starting point.
> 3. **Big Loud bio:** adds *"the speed of the jaguar… moving through technological and cultural dynamics."*
>
> A 2024 telling (Mic Magazine) adds a redemptive edge: the jaguar *"looks into the darkness of itself and others but then is able to pull people out of that into the light."* And Wikipedia supplies an editorial gloss, *not* Roy's words, tying the name to *"the ancient Mayan belief that jaguars possessed mythical powers to see into all living beings."* Roy's own 2018 framing is gentler and first-person: on naming the project, *"I felt like I was given new eyes and I started to see myself, others, and the world differently."*
>
> One older gloss has been **struck:** the claim that the jaguar *"sees into all living beings / travels between worlds / is an inter-world traveler."* That is not in Roy's etymology quotes and does not survive scrutiny. The grounded meaning is *mirror of consciousness,* full stop.
> [!note]- The frame holds a heart, a mind, and a buried light
> Inside the mythology, Jagwar Twin operates as a **meta-system,** a stage for three voices that are all aspects of one person.
>
> - **[[Sir Lucius]]:** the mind, strategy, reflection; the protective intelligence that risks becoming a prison. Never only the villain: the manipulation, the shadow, and the protective love are all live at once.
> - **[[Roy]]:** the heart, meaning; the self the whole apparatus was built to protect.
> - **The [[Brandon|Ballerina Boy]]:** the buried light, the origin self, rooted in a childhood dance-wound the work treats with real tenderness.
>
> The catalogue's master-tension, *mind serving the heart vs. mind replacing it,* runs underneath all of it. One way of seeing it, and a strong one: the Jaguar names the **reflexive seeing** that *is* the project's [[Concepts/Source vs Reflection]] frame, a reflection that returns you to the source rather than trapping you in the image. And one guard against over-reading the seeing as surveillance: in [[The Circle]], the primordial Jagwar's defining act is *teaching the song,* the field **sings,** it does not only watch.
>
> **Anti-drift note.** There is no fourth, peer "Jaguar" character standing beside Roy, Lucius, and Mary. The emblem is the *frame,* not a claimant, so do not promote it into a tidy four-figure tetramorph. That 1:1 belongs to a separate paratext, not to these figures.
> [!note]- The name as the Tree's two-that-are-one (framework, not fact)
> Flag this whole section as interpretation, a lens laid over the work, not something Roy has stated as intent.
>
> Read through the Kabbalah Roy openly studies, *Jagwar Twin* reads as the name of a *pair:* Netzach and Hod, the two sefirot that sit at the same height on the Tree, one at each side. [[Roy]] takes Netzach (Venus, the heart); [[Sir Lucius]] takes Hod (Mercury, the mind). Two-that-are-one, observer and observed, the mirror and the twin drawn as a diagram. It is a clean rhyme, which is exactly why to hold it loosely: the placements are correspondences worth hearing, never a claim about what Roy meant.
>
> There is a tempting corollary worth stating carefully. If any figure ever *names* the reconciled heart-state, the point where the twins are made one, it would be the meta-system *Jagwar Twin* itself, the container, not Roy the voice. The frame can hold a resolution the character cannot yet stand inside. That keeps the reading honest: it is the *where* that could carry the ending, never a promise that the ending has arrived.
> [!note]- The Circle, Mary, and the divine-feminine question (interpretation, not fact)
> The project's founding myth, [[The Circle]] (the closer of *[[33]],* and Roy's stated favorite of anything he has written), tells of a feminine maker, *"a Jagwar with a world tied on a string,"* who makes the Jagwars, teaches them to sing, hides the song *"inside their wings, on the inside of the inside,"* and withdraws. Empires then cage and sell the creatures, until *"a wise one remembered she once held the string,"* and *"the circle will grow, from the inside of the inside."*
>
> Read through the Kabbalah, that maker-figure sits close to **[[Mary]]:** the divine-feminine source, the Shekhinah, Sophia, a family resemblance rather than an equation. So *"the Jagwar"* carries two registers at once. In the *name's etymology* it is the genderless mirror of consciousness; in the *Circle myth* it is a feminine maker who looks a great deal like Mary. Two readings sit open here and the work settles neither. **Reading A:** distinct orders, the Jaguar stays the genderless seeing-field and the string-holder stays Mary's or Roy's, the tidier heuristic. **Reading B:** a deliberate overlap, one function wearing two faces, with the Circle-myth's feminine Maker Jagwar lending it real weight. A is the cleaner tool, not Roy's law. This page keeps both, and keeps [[Mary]], [[The Wise One]], and [[SARAVI]] as separate figures throughout.
> [!note]- The inversion engine, and a warning against hindsight
> **The Circle vs. the Circus.** [[The Circle]] turns *inward,* toward the source, toward self-finding. [[Concepts/The Circus]] turns *outward,* toward spectacle, toward self-losing. Same recursive structure, opposite function: the Circus reflects the Circle back reversed and sells it as spectacle. That reversal is the signature [[Sir Lucius]] move, the distorting mirror. Roy diagnoses the swap directly in his own Manifesto, via a substitution table: *Immersion → Volume of content; Purpose → Reach; Feeling → Algorithm.* (The same document holds his counter-creed: *"I don't desire more followers. I desire to see more leaders, more free thinkers, more truth seekers,"* and *"We are not defined by what we do, but by who we are. All I am is that I am."*)
>
> **The retrospective-coherence warning.** None of this means Roy planned it all, and chronology is not proof of design. The 2018 and 2022 work was *not* thinking in the later named system: no Lucius by name, no Circus, no Algorithm in the contemporaneous vocabulary. The mythology accreted and was named in hindsight. As the lab framing puts it, *the soil contained the seed, but the seed wasn't planted on purpose.* Read the coherence as emergent, not premeditated.
>
> **One last curio, held below the line.** The album *33* is named for an age, but *33⅓ rpm* is the speed of a spinning record, and a record plays from the outside in, toward its innermost groove, literally enacting *"the inside of the inside."* A pleasing rhyme, not a claim: whether the album was even pressed to vinyl is unconfirmed. File under coincidence-or-not.
> [!warning]- How this reading could be wrong
> The page needs brakes, and this is where they live.
>
> - **The "authentic Roy" pole may itself be authored.** *"Vulnerable, egoless Roy"* could be a curated counter-pole to *"Lucius the villain,"* both products of the same rollout. The whole frame is Roy's own press, so adopting it wholesale risks describing Roy using Roy's self-account. Keep that seam visible.
> - **The Tree placements fit too easily.** A sefirotic map is flexible enough to fit almost anything, and that flexibility is itself a tell of system-fitting. Hold Netzach-Hod at framework tier, never as authorial intent.
> - **There is no fourth character hiding in the emblem.** The Jaguar is the seeing-field, not a claimant standing beside Roy, Lucius, and Mary. Do not build a hidden roster on it.
> - **The tidy version stays on the table.** Lucius as monster-of-the-week, defeated at last, duality resolved, roll credits. Clean, dramatic, simple. This guide bets it is also wrong, but the bet should stay visible, not hidden.
> [!question]- Open questions
> These are genuinely open. The work does not answer them, and neither should the page.
>
> - Is the divine-feminine maker of the Circle-myth the same figure as [[Mary]], one source under two names, or two faces of the same Shekhinah? Not settled, not hard-locked.
> - Does the *Lucius Lullaby* integration arc actually resolve, mind re-subordinated to heart, loop folded back into circle? Or does it end with Lucius still *"the final boss"*? This is the central unresolved question of the whole project.
> - Does the joint *"Jagwar Twin & Sir Lucius"* billing read as the protector being **honored** or the protector **taking over**? Exactly the question the album leaves open, on purpose.

I wanted to explore a few ways to tell Jagwar Twin's \"Genesis\" story. The Circle: The (Great Jagwar Myth) EP is out tonight at 12AM (EST)"* · **02-16 '23** · myth as one story, many versions
> [!receipts]- Source notes (what is grounded, read, and framework)
> **Grounded** (released music, Roy's own interviews and posts, official videos and campaign pages): that Jagwar Twin is a project rather than a person; the *Roy English → Jagwar Twin* history and label chain; the three studio albums and their release dates; the joint *"Jagwar Twin & Sir Lucius"* billing on *Lucius Lullaby;* and the name etymology (mirror of consciousness plus twin/Gemini, the *"Jagwar"* spelling). The comedic artifacts are grounded and public too: the Sir Lucius "one hit wonder" post and the twin "everyone's a guru" posts on the official accounts ([[Public Posts]]); *Bananas,* the Oompa-Loompa interpolation, and the *Lucius Lullaby* tagline in the released album and its merch; *The Interview*'s *"the algorithm, baby"* and the *"mastermind"* → *"final boss"* → STOP SIR LUCIUS escalation in the official video series; and *The Song of the Sun & the Moon,* the Circle-EP *"story of all of us"* line, and the SARAVI / Hall of Mirrors timeline (May to November 2022) from Roy's public statements and the official pages. One open dating discrepancy: Wikipedia lists the project as *"Jagwar Twin (2015–present),"* while the project's own pages and most coverage date the rebrand to **2018**; this guide uses 2018. The headline metrics (Happy Face's RIAA Gold; Bad Feeling's Top-40 radio and 100M-plus streams) are real public anchors; point-in-time chart positions are kept loose because they go stale.

> **Strong reading** (interpretive, well-supported, not stated as intent): that the name *is* the project's thesis; that the frame is built to hold opposed voices; that the Jaguar names a [[Concepts/Source vs Reflection]] master-frame; and that the Circle/Circus pair is one inversion engine.
>
> **Framework** (esoteric, a lens, never authorial intent): the Netzach-Hod placement of the name and the reconciled heart-state homed in the container; the Kabbalah / Shekhinah resonance between the Circle-myth maker and [[Mary]]; and the SARAVI-vs-Lucius "same engine, opposite charge" reading. Offered as lenses, clearly flagged, and they do not settle the open questions they touch, chief among them whether the divine-feminine maker and Mary are one figure or two.
